Tex, why don't you have the woe-is-me attitude? In the past year I lost my mom, a tornado destroyed my orchard and most shade trees, you barely escaped death from the m/c wreck and your cancer has been coming and going for 15 years>. Yet, you always have a joke and act like you just won the lotto.

Well, because I'm very fortunate to have my '77 GMC and my 72 Chevy pick-ups paid for. My house is paid for and when I walk out of the VA hospital I realize that DAMN I'm a lucky sob.

Someone is always worse off than you think you are.

I would like to apologize to all the good folks safely motoring along that I pissed off when riding home from work today. But I can't because they were going so slow they couldn't keep up moving through the traffic.

Believe me, there, I have seen 3rd world and even 4th world.  We are all very fortunate in this country...

What pisses me off... well, mostly things I can't do anything about, but here's the short list, now edited for no political content. (Still sorry I forgot about that Dusty)

1. Road salt, pot holes, and tar snakes
2. Cagers on cell phones
3. Stereotypes
4. Not winning the lottery (but then it might help my odds if I played it)
5. Cancer
6. My wife's cat puking up hairballs (gross!)
7. Our pug getting old (she's 13 and starting to have age-related issues)
8. All the fuss made about flu shots and then they find out they're for the wrong variety anyways
9. Running out of coffee in the house.
10. The low-budget outfit our town contracted to replace water mains. I'm going to be all year getting my front yard looking good again after their absolute hack job.

That said... what am I thankful for?

1. That I'm still here after a nasty wreck 3 years ago.
2. My wonderful wife who has stuck with me for the past 18 years.
3. My older daughter will graduate college with her nursing degree in a couple months. She already has job offers rolling in.
4. My younger daughter will graduate high school in a couple months, and has her college already squared away. As in completely paid for. By her own doing, not mine.
5. My son, the youngest, just got the word that he has two life guarding jobs lined up this summer. He's 16 and gainfully employed, on his own motivation.
6. The place I work continues to pay me well for the time I give them.
7. My parents are still doing well, even if they're beginning to show their age at 71 and 74.
8. My oldest sister beat thyroid cancer last year.
9. My second oldest sister survived a near-fatal heart attack a few months ago and just went back to work this week.
10. In a few more weeks I will be able to resume riding my Moto Guzzi.

So, yes, I have my gripes, but I have a LOT to be thankful for.

My observation is that the things you're doing in your "thankful" list are all the right things to be doing to get the items in your "gripe" list fixed and moving in the right direction!

We can't fix the world, we can only do our part in the bit that we live in .....

What pisses me off today is morons passing me in no passing zones, even with uphill and curve thrown in. Every time it happens I mentally picture a car or poor slob on a bike coming over the hill into a head on, and I really want to thrash the idiot.

He is not going to crash into anyone when he can just move into your lane and "accidentally" shove you off the road.

Why do you want to be a tough guy on this?  You're taking this personally.  On previous threads you stated that you can delete a post that you don't like.  You also have the power to delete threads, so why don't you delete the thread if it's going political?  You've done it on a lot of threads I've started. 

Since I haven't gone "political", I don't see the problem with my posts.  You on the other hand have taken issue with posts from others and myself personally. 

I'll pick up the gauntlet and volunteer to moderate if you quit.

That's kind of the point.  Let this become a mega-thread where you can sick up what's eating away at you inside and then the "Smile" thread will grow accordingly.  At least that's my hope.

Nope, but some hold on to $#!+ that they'd be better off letting go.  So when moto therapy doesn't work or isn't available, they can visit, purge, and be done with it.

Dunno , not much really ever bothers me , no one is shooting at me , food in the fridge , motorbike runs , old truck runs , have a bunch of friends and several of them will be at CV next month . Is it necessary to have some demon eating you up ?
