The Mule - Clint Eastwood's latest flick (NGC)
« on: January 06, 2019, 07:30:19 PM »
Enjoyed that yesterday with my baby, I won't spoil the plot or give away any of the highlights, it was enjoyable as always to see Clint the Squint on the big screen again.  What a career he's had...Malpaso has been around for a loooong time now.

Might have to do a movie marathon of Pale Rider, Josey Wales and HIgh Plains Drifter now...

:)

Saw that last weekend. Clint is the man! I watch Josie Wales 8-10 times a year. Buzzards gotta eat, same as worms.

...and a shot of tobacco juice right on the forehead!  Bang!

I figured you were one who might have seen it already!

Time for a Missourah boat ride!  :)

By the way...have you ever read the book upon which the movie Josey Wales is based?  Excellent book, and there is book 2 as well.  Clint did a very faithful adaptation of the book for his movie...one of my All time favorites, no doubt!  I'll admit to watching it 5-6 times a year as well, along with all of the others that many times too!

In my line of work I have to be able to sing Yankee Doodle and Battle Hymn of the Republic with EQUAL enthusiasm!

Read the book years ago when I spent more time in airplanes. It's hard to get in a good read, keep up with texts and e mails and phone calls while driving from Branson west to Shell Knob  :boozing:

I reckon so!

Do you think these gentlemen will be free to talk business soon!

Josey Wales: When I get to likin’ someone, they ain’t around long.
Lone Watie: I notice when you get to DISlikin’ someone they ain’t around for long neither.

I have been an avid fan for many years...but he looked ALL of 88 years in this one.   I suspect his may be his last movie...

For Guzzi Content:

The Dirty Harry movies were showing over the holidays, I watched them just to see the Guzzi Ambassadors being ridden!

My wife and i saw it a couple weeks ago.  I'm an easy sell on any of Clints stuff that doesn't involve an ape, but my wife liked it a lot too.

The westerns are great (excluding paint your wagon). IMO The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly is the greatest film of all time. The Unforgiven is an amazing bookend to all of those films.

The rest, not so good.
The Dirty Harry films are kind of cartoonish, The Orangutan movie speaks for itself, Gran Torino was depressing and there was not enough of the car, and then there is The Bridges with Meryl Streep... ughhh.

Doubt it could beat Two Mules for Sister Sara. Clint and Shirley MacLaine at their best.

Yeah, he looked all of his years. Great story. The Green Mile, while not a Clint movie was another movie with a great story. It's nice to watch a movie that has a good story. So many flicks today look like video games, all CG and no plot. Avatar comes to mind...

Mule is a good movie?  Humor or all sad?

I can separate Clint, John Wayne (and even Kevin Spacey) by liking their movies while disagreeing with them.  Others, not so much.

Oh boy!  A movie thread?  Just watched "The man from earth" again.  No explosions, car chases, special effects, etc., just dialogue.  Think it's a pretty good flick, one you can put yourself into and think, what would I do.  Your results may differ.

.  Not humor or sad. Just a good story about an old man getting by. I make a point to see every movie Mr. Eastwood makes on the big screen in support and have a Rowdy Yates tatoo on my_________. Kevin Spacey???  Can I have a

Ahh, "Play Misty for me" what's not to like.  Jaguar XK, wicked woman, and perhaps my all time favorite song First Time(as sung by Roberta Flack).  I'll admit there is that little disjointed segue into the music festival but hey, it allows for the song.

and Josie Wales..so many great lines and actors.   The music alone for The Good, the Bad and the Ugly -so memorable.
(although which was the Guzzi  is up to debate).

There are some as good, but none better at the one liner response as Clint.
Anything after..
"Oh yeah...?"
You couldn't put a 2 though feeler gage between his top and bottom canine teeth and he could still have a "conversation".
When he's gone the empty hole where there used to be genuine "stars" will start to look...
"Mighty big Chief..."
Clint' movies are like the Blues Brothers #1. It's not always the conclusion, it's just San Francisco, THAT bridge, car chases and that damn '70's hair..!
I understand BB's was Chicago but it's just the ride.....

How about: "A man has got to know his limitations..."

I think that was a Dirty Harry quote, but I use it ALL the time. I vote Josey Wales as the all-time best re-watchable Clint movie of all time. I, too can recite most of the lines, as if I was watching a Rocky Horror movie. Drives my wife nuts.

I put Josey Wales in the same category as Patton for never-can-watch-too-many-times.

I read that for The Mule, the directors intentionally did NOT try to pretty Clint up to look any younger.
