Yearly Mileage Poll
« on: February 10, 2019, 07:42:17 AM »
After watching Luap's last poll I thought it might be interesting to see what is typical for folks on this site...not sure if you've done this before...I've only been around for 5-6 years and have not seen similar.
This can surely be biased for those that don't live in the northern latitudes...evidenc ed by right now creating a pole instead of out for a Sunday morning ride.

Cheers

Back when I rode Black Mit White the highest yearly mileage was often posted by folks from Wisconsin and points North

I should have said extreme latitudes...sorry to not think about those down under that may also be affected by climate condition...I didn't mean to leave you out :)

Terrible start last year what with open heart surgery and all.
But I came back strong and just broke into the 8~12 range!  :bike-037:

Sub-3k lifetime on 2 seasons on my 850T that constantly needed something done to it, said 850T being my one and only motorcycle. Living in NW Ohio also subjects me to full winters. My current goal is to get a brand new Stone (hopefully a Night Pack, yet to see how they'll be priced) this year while I get the 850T to where I want it and put on hopefully 5 digits between the 2 this season

My Norge has done 162,000 k in 11 years and about 65,000 of that was in Europe.
I live at 37 degrees South and have posted about 55,000 @ latitudes higher than 51 degrees North, about half of which was above 61 degrees North.
Not much so far this year, but the Norge leaves for UK in 3 weeks for two months so expect about 20,000 during this trip.

This is as far as I got.
I ran out of guts (and road) @ 71 degrees N.
It was 2 degrees @71 degrees..  :bike-037:

Are we talking currently , or historically ? In what is now 50 years of motorbiking (almost 51 now) my average is probably above 10,000 miles a year, but extreme hot or cold conditions keep me off the bike now , although it is likely I still manage 5K a year . Honestly , I never much kept track , guess it would help to have an odometer that works

Well ill have to start with saying that ive been off two wheels for a little over 10 years... that said I did at least 8-10k a year back then. With my plans this year I should get a easy 4-5k in so I voted in the center...  granted, if its like last year where it rained ALL summer and fall.....  maybe not..

I probably should know this , but what is your location ? The event in Cedar Vale coming in May is a good chance to meet a bunch of us .

I usually average ~ 10k a year spread across several bikes. This year I only did about half as much, mainly due to the 75" of rain we had.

Dusty,

I guess I was thinking currently...I was thinking about sending out a Michigan Rally T shirt to the person with the highest.

I'm going to try my best to get to your rally this year.

OK , that makes sense .

Come on Frank , the Cedar Vale event isn't so much my rally , more of a group effort , I just get to bask in the reflected glory

When I lived and rode based in San Diego, I did about 11K miles a year, steadily.
7 years ago, I moved to New Hampshire, and was surprised that my mileage went up, even though I couldn't ride for 3 or 4 months a year.
The variance went up a lot -- lowest year was 8K miles; highest 20K.
But I've been averaging 14K since the move.
All of this has been on Ducati Monsters.

I'm also doing more traveling for work these days, so I'm looking to get more of a sport-touring bike next, which is why I'm here.
Guzzis rate on my short list of which sport-tourer to get.

I've only done around 3,000 miles or just a bit better for the last couple of years.  Work has been keeping me busy and I tend to work odd schedules.

I put 15,000 miles on my V7 III in the first 14 months of ownership ending last September, and I don't really go anywhere, just a 3-4 hour ride on dry days here in Willamette Valley, Oregon.  Also, always have a second ride just to change it up. I bought a new Honda CB300R in September, now has 2800 miles on it.

It's varied a lot over the decades. When I commuted into Manhattan and Denver, higher miles. And higher miles now that I'm retired and have time for joy rides. Lowest was the ten years at Tahoe, when we were snowed under 7 months of the year and I worked mainly at home.

I stand corrected Dusty....really meant your backyard rally ...our Michigan rally couldn't happen without the entire team too....about a dozen of us splitting the many chores.

Averaged 15K miles per year for the last 11 years (with Guzzi). Before that did not keep track.

Big miles/year are now gone; although I've planned one rally ~900 miles round trip and a pig smoke near Rohrersville, MD ~840-round trip.
Used to go to Strafford, MO, Tucson, Phoenix, Salt Lake City & Spokane - every other now and then. One or two bun burner gold's in a row each way. If the timing was right I'd sleep a few hours, shower, change of clothes and show up looking good.
Last years guestimate over 4 bikes was 4-500 miles/wk. May through November;
~12k miles. (GB500TT, RS125, CX125, V7 III).  R3~

Of course I only drive the PU truck about 1,200 miles a year anymore , so the bike still gets more miles annually than the 4 wheeled vehicle

I bet he's not.  Indeed, I'd bet you'd find quite a few people here that do that.
This is the first year since 1988 that I've even had a car for normal use.
And that's only because I'm spending this winter in Minnesota.
