Huzo, erudite and correct as ever, thanks.
I measured the stand by putting spacers underneath the foot, it's way too short, I measure 25cm from pivot bolt to foot, straight along the shaft of the stand, when I have it at what I deem to be a close to good angle, I measure 30cm, that's almost 2" it could do with being lengthened!. The pivot bolt has a little play in it, but I mean a little, could be it's going a bit too far forward, but not anywhere near that much. Does anyone know if the Stelvio stand is longer?.
I still have my LM111, so hopefully I will be allowed to stay within the fold?.
Alan.

Because of the handlebar arrangement on the Norge I don't think it's possible to drop the forks.

I’d try raising the forks…

Okay..
Make sure that the plate that your sidestand is bolted to, is still firmly bolted to the engine crankcase.
Also it is prudent to check that your stand is not going too far past the point where the spring overcentres. If it is, it can be cured in the time honoured fashion, by removing the stand and applying a small dab of weld either on the stand or (preferably) on the mounting plate.
Ensure that the pivot bolt is greased and very well tightened, before nipping up the locknut, which seems to be perpetually loose…(I lockwired mine).
BTW.
I have lengthened my Norge sidestand by 30 mm. You COULD lengthen yours by 30 cm as you say, but that seems a touch excessive… :thumb:
But you’re right, length is important

You can see the extra length and steepened angle in this shot.

Correct, unless you want to machine away the step in the top crown.

Thanks all,
I'll double check all the stand fastenings tomorrow.
I've taken the plunge and bought a V85TT, looking forward to getting it.
I'll keep my Norge at the moment.
