Musings

Some random thoughts while working on the G5 project tonight

Moto Guzzi clutches are much easier to assemble on the bench face down
Everything, but everything comes apart at least three times
You canít have too much light on your project
Itís so much fun to use a specialty tool
Good professional motorcycle mechanics are amazing. Iíd lose my shirt.
Never lend your garage radio to your cousin for the week
Classic twins with the right pipes sound especially nice on the way home in the dark after a long day of work
How is is that so many people donít get motorcycles
A pile of clean soft shop rags is wonderful
Two hours alone in the garage beats bad tv anytime.
I wish Iíd thanked more WWII vets when I had the chance.
My next restoration will either be my Ď77 R100S or Ď73 SL125, probably the Honda.

I'm working from home for a year and a half, but pipes in the dark speaks to me.
That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

Nice musings . On the sl125 according to a friend who has his thumb firmly on the vintage Japanese dirt bike market an sl100 is quite rare & more valuable by a significant amount . Good hunting !

An old friend gave me a Ď73 SL125, a Ď74 XL100, an extra 125 engine, two extra 125 heads and an extra set of forks.  The bad news is that they sat in a lean-to for thirty years and look like hell. There is no way I could restore either one and make a profit.  The 125 would be a tear down and rebuild without lights or gauges.  I tried to offload the 100 but wasnít willing to give the local dump the required $20.00 to take it. Now Iím keeping it for extra rims, brackets, coils, etc.
