Stupid or not? V85 wheels
Phil/TX:
Ok, just got my tubeless wheels for my v 85 in. My question…….is there a rubber ring that fits the rim like my KTM 790? Or do I just put new valve stems on and fit the tire. I would think there is no need for rubber ring around the rim as there are no spokes in the inner ring, all spokes are out side BMW style. Any one have the tubeless rims? Help an old guy out
Dirk_S:
“Rubber ring” as in rim tape? Rim tape’s job is to protect tubes from spokes. There’s no tube, and the spokes are on the outside, so treat it like a regular ol’ cast wheel style rim inside.
And since I’m not experienced enough to be considered a wise sage, you can see on the V85TT parts fiche that there’s no rim tape to purchase:

The older V85TT with regular spoked wheels do show rim tape being used:

I purchased mine from AF1. They have the wheels and also a kit. The kit includes the right angle valve stem and the plastic cover for the back wheel.
See here.

If you plan on adding a TPMS valve stem cap, you need to go with metal valve stems as the rubber ones will tear due to the added weight of the cap sensor and internal battery.

I don't know where this .453 hole size came from. My V7III, V85 and 2001 EV all used this NAPA part 90-426 and it's a .327 hole.
