Do V7II header pipes fit a V7I ??
« on: September 12, 2022, 02:06:10 PM »
My header pipes have been all but destroyed by the previous owner wrapping them, combined with a few wet and salty winters. I have the opportunity to pick up a pair of great condition headers, but they're for a V7II... will they by any chance fit my 2012 V7I?? Thanks in advance!

Maybe? Doubtful, but maybe?

The V7 II motor was rotated for a more horizontal layout. The means mounts on the frame changed somewhat, and quite possibly the headers changed as well to compensate. The headers are different model numbers. Both models share the same manifold / opening area, as well as the cross tube down below.

Thanks Dirk.. it does look very doubtful then, with different part numbers and significant geometry change.. Shame, they look immaculate! I might put in a low silly bid anyway, and sell on if I win and they don't fit...

Why not get yours rechromed?  Or Cerakoted?  I Cerakoted my ‘14 V7’s headers in a flat black, and they looked great for 20K miles.  If you like “shiny”, they also do a chrome color.

I was investigating ceramic coating as my best option, before I saw these used VII pipes for sale.. but I think flat black ceramic is probably the way to go.
There are plenty of US Cerakote/ceramic specialists, not so many here in the UK, if anyone has any experience? I'll fire off some emails and get some prices...

I think the II would fit the frame but the mufflers won't line up. Just my guess.

The answer might be just to fab adapter brackets to mount the mufflers.

I got a quote for Ceramic satin black coating from Zircotec ( https://www.zircotec.com/ ) over here in the UK; About £125 for both pipes. I'll think about it over the winter.
