Ducati 999S questions
« on: April 15, 2021, 01:48:52 PM »
An chap I know has a 2007 Ducati 999S, it has never been run, 0 miles on it, he would like to get it going and ride it a bit. What would be the best plan for this? Timing belt replacement before sparking her up? DonG

There are several Duc experts here like Lucky Phil.

Otherwise, I'd go to a Ducati board where the 999 is discussed.  If not, new oil, fluids and gas, all the rubber stuff and seals, belts.

Yeah I was hoping a Ducati expert would chime in, I dont think this bike will go far, he just wants to hear it and drive it a bit cuz its no use having it just to look at. I want to know if the belts should be replaced before it is fired up, dont want any out of time camshaft issues.  DonG

Yes belts, oil, filter, coolant (replace with the orange extra long life) Fresh fuel. Before the oil and filter pull the plugs and turn the engine over in top gear with the back wheel to get some oil on the cams and rockers and while you have the plugs out cycle the ignition switch half a dozen times to flush any old fuel out of the injectors and lines.

With zero miles, I think he should sell it on BAT. Might just bring a few large dollars!
