Final Drive Noise
« on: May 08, 2020, 07:59:21 AM »
Hi from NW England,
Can anyone help? There was a message on this forum regarding 'Stelvio 4V Final Drive' posted on 23rd January 2015, the problem that the member was having is exactly what I'm experiencing with my 2006 Griso 1100. As per his video if I rotate the rear wheel when in gear there's some play and a real nasty clunk when the play ends. Towards the end of the topic the member states that it was resolved by tightening the 'red' bolt, I'm presuming that this relates to a Stelvio manual, does anyone know which bolt this could be? My bike is becoming difficult to ride with this play/noise. Any help/advice would be gratefully received.
Cheers,
Chris

Looks like no answers. I'll try. Never seen any red bolt on any Stelvio or Griso for adjusting. Could it be the pinion shaft nut? Maybe he had it circled w/red from paint program to illustrate which one. Maybe it's the reaction rod bushings wore out.
The pro on CARC is Pete and he's not here now, I never got into the CARC

Pete is on the Ghetto----        https://www.grisoghetto.com/                    Go there you'll get an answer strait away.

My 02 had the bolts inside the rear hub break and caused the rear wheel to wobble fore and aft and side to side.

Thanks both for your replies, the pinion nut suggestion sounds interesting as the problem has got progressively worse over the months. I'm a member of Grisoghetto so I've posted there and asked that if Pete's around whether he could offer any advice. I'll let you know how it goes. Stay safe, cheers Chris
