It's just a plan old good deal. Better yet, the Converts have iron barrels and bores. No chance of of flakey chrome here.

I'd be proud top have this in my shop! My first Guzzi was a convert.

That's pretty much the whole list of to-do's, all done for you...there it is folks, if you've wanted one...$1700? You could rack that up with your first order for parts on a restoration...dang it even looks like it Could Be Fast...

Is it rude to ask, when you accelerate away, is there a changing of gears automatically, or is it more like a constant speed (rpm) type of thing ?

No gear changes. The torque converter handles that. It is a two speed gear box but that is selected from a full stop, not shifted on the fly. I always left my Convert in high range.

Well it's got me obsessing....checke d the pics thre times...pretty sure those are loop valve covers, but it gives it a little v7 sport look to the motor...the stepped seat echoes superbike racers in the 78-82 era...think a Suk 1000 or Rainey Muzzy racers...looks great here...the left hand switch is done, geez, lots of little all done, great deal...is this anyone here? Says they have two others already...

Update: of course, it's in the wg classifieds, doh!

$1,700 for a Tonti-framed bike with a 1000cc round-fin, iron barrel engine, and triple disk brakes.   Just add a 5-speed manual, and you've got the basis for a cool cafe or whatever you wanna make it custom Guzzi!

If that was local, I'd be real tempted to buy it and build a V7 Sport or 750S homage!

In the end probably cheaper and certainly much easier to start out with a T or a G . Of course then you have people like Rodekyll who puts a 'Vert transmission behind a 1200 in a trike

Leave it as a Convert. They're far too much fun to ruin as yet another awful pseudo Cafe.  If you take the time to get used to the torque converter you'll be Converted. I certainly am. I love mine.

True.   A G would be a great starting place.

Some guy did that back in the late '80s/early '90s and would ride down to Midway Cycles on it. Pretty neat concept!

Someone got a heck of a deal.  That one is mostly done.

...and flywheel, clutch, different timing cover, u-joint and driveshaft, rear drive...

torque converter, camshaft, cooler, tank, hoses  .  . . . .

Is it rude to ask, when you accelerate away, is there a changing of gears automatically, or is it more like a constant speed (rpm) type of thing ?

No, the Mighty 'Vert does not shift.  It doesn't need to.  You choose either high or low range before starting out and shift while stopped.  The torque converter does all the gear reduction from zero to redline.  This is how my trike works -- except for the high/low range part, since I didn't use the 2-speed gearbox.  I theorized that since we don't shift a Convert, we don't need the gearbox.  So I simply (HA!) stuffed the drive shaft directly into the torque converter, bypassing the gearbox, and bolted the other end of the shaft to the differential.  No transmission at all.

"DOH" is right, I coulda sworn I saw an ad here or in the Swap section for a $1700 Convert, but there were no pics, or I would've snagged that thing myself.

Did the ad say how the chronic engine-breather-oil-spewing problem was solved? I owned mine from 10k miles to over 40k, and it NEVER looked that clean.

At even a higher-price, that looks like a sano rig worthy of lots of more miles. Automatics truly are wonderful after you give them time to make you fall in love...
