Well I finally did it....oops!
« on: August 23, 2018, 04:15:24 PM »
Well after about 20 years or so I finally dropped one of my bikes.

This happened Wednesday on my
way to work. At least I didn't
hit the car in front of me.

The pic of the rash I think
was from hitting the mirror
there are a few more spots
that really look bad, but they
are below the belt and my hip.

so sorry.  A similar thing happened to my on my EV a few years ago.  I was on a steep gravel parking lot and going down hill.  A couple on Harley lurches in front of me and I grab the front brake and down I go.   Luckily, the Harley rider stopped, otherwise I would have hit him before I fell.  Ended up with a bent crash bar, a few broken dodads and sprained big toe (and that really hurt).

I hope you and your bike are fixed up soon.

That is one thing I like about my converts. Front and rear crash bars. I only dropped one once but I wasn't moving. No damage at all and only the front bar touched the concrete.Good that you weren't hurt much though.

Thanks guys!

I think I grabbed the front brake like my Loops and locked the front end then it tucked under like LR mentioned. I remember hitting the brake then nothing till the last two rolls on the ground. This happened at about 30mph, could have been much worse.

Yes, I will heal, one of the bumps will take a few months to go away, had one like it before.

Like mentioned, I have a project again. I had just in the last few days synked the tb's was running sweet. The night before I changed the caps to NGK, was lookin forward to how they would do.

On my Ambo I have Wixom bags. The rear CB's don't go out far enough to do any good.

FG, oddly enough, the rash in the pic was under my leather jacket. Not even a hole in the T shirt. Got one on my knee, was wearing Cords, no hole there either. I find those odd.

Your point is taken. Been thinking about some over the pants riding pants.

Damn, that's a shame. Why did you put it off so long?

I hope you were wearing gloves.

That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

Shorty fingerless. Did get a small cut and small rash.

Btw: was wearing 8" lace up leather boots. Still stubbed my toe. Again, could have been worse.

well, always been told there are two type of bikers: one that had crashed, and one that eventually will.

We all will do it eventually :P

But the important part is you are okay and live to tell the tale.  :thumb: :thumb:

Speedy recovery and I am sure you will be back on the iron horse in no time!

I don't know how much difference armor will make re abrasions from armor on the skin under the armor.

I had just bought a new mountain bike with brakes about four times superior to my old bike - some child did something stupid in front of me and I nailed the brakes as hard as I would have on the old bike.

The bike immediately stopped where it was and I kept going. I was just out for a toodle, so wearing a new pair of jeans. The jeans showed zero signs of damage, but I ripped the hell out of both knees under the denim.

when you get a rash/cut/abrasion under the leather armour, it usually means the piece of clothing MOVED while you were sliding.

That means the pieces of clothing isn't secured enough around your body to create a tight fit.

That is why racing leather/mesh Armour have tighter collar/waist size, and the racing schools that I had attended always make sure all our clothing are the right size especially the waist to prevent the armour get pulls back up/sideways. Not a size UP nor a size DOWN (yes it does happen as my skinning Asian body with freaking wide shoulder)
