2000 Bassa Questions
« on: January 31, 2016, 05:07:56 PM »
Went and looked at a 2k Bassa today,   17k  Pearl White, decent Metzlers,  Leather Guzzi bags,   Seller dropped it last fall  , scraped up engine guard and mirror.  I think he bent the bracket that the kick stand switch is mounted on because it will shut off when idling because the kick stand drops down.   does anyone have a pic of the stock switch?    im pretty sure thats the problem.   It was around 40 here in Michigan today, he rolled it out of the garage without having put it on a battery tender or putting stabil in it and i got it to start pretty easily,  didnt want to idle to much but better than i thought it would.

He is asking 2k for it ,  is there any reason i shouldnt buy it?    I thought it was in  great shape for a 16 year old motorcycle.

Can you still buy parts for this bike?     Thanks   Greg

Those leather bags were expensive.  Some folks on this board just remove the kickstand kill switch by following the wire up to the loom and unplugging it.  I would fix it because I have the attention span of a chipmunk and you can't see the sidestand when it is down.

Y2K is one of the best Moto Guzzi vintages, rivaling the 98 EV for durability... and that's saying something.

Yeah, That's easily a $3500-4000 bike, cleaned up and running well.

Accessories are hard to come by, but out there if you look.

Under the skin, it's the same as the California EV, so lots of availability on mechanical parts.

Ok  i cant pick it up until next weekend at the earliest.  Couple more questions,   It doesnt have a centerstand, can i add one?   where is the lock for the seat?  i could see the cable but couldnt find the lock.    light in the tach was out how hard is that to replace?  no high beam on the headlight, simple fix?     Mirror and windshield  recommendation?    Thanks Greg

Greg,

Go here and down load the shop manual for the bike for free.  You should be able to read through the entire manual by the weekend ...lol

Best of luck!!

Centerstand, yes you can add one.
Seat lock is on the left side somewhere fairly near the sidecover.
Never had to replace the tach light, but it might be a little fiddly.
If it's just the bulb, it's an easy fix, but there are other possibilities.
Standard mirror threads, so whatever you like. Tons on Ebay.
The Aerofoil/Hannigan unit is very effective, but fairly expensive. The Plexifairing is another good option.
