V11 LeMans slip on cans
« on: July 20, 2015, 09:41:01 AM »
I'd like to put a set of oval carbon fiber canisters on my 2003 V11 LeMans. All of the typical vendors (FBF, M4, etc.) have discontinued their products for the V11. Other than Mistrals does anyone know of a muffler still available?

I've got WTB listings on a couple of forums for a used set with no results yet. Hate to do it this way on a general posting but thought I may get more input.

Thanks-David

I would contact those companies and ask them about mufflers.  The mufflers are generic and usually the only specific parts are the hangers which can usually be modified from universal parts.

Or you might try the high dollar Staintune and Mistral route.

I put M4 carbon ovals on my V11 Lemans.  You should call and see if they still make them; they were not on the website even when I bought mine several years ago, but they had them.  And they sound NICE.

Yeah.  The M4 is nice.

MPH Cycles in Houston stocked them.  Would be worth a phone call.

FBF are about the best sounding there are!  They are for his 2000 V11 Sport (not Lemans --though the same fitment) and he's getting 2 sets made because they're discontinued. You may have to sweet talk them but his are supposed to be shipped any day so they're fresh off the line. He has the carbon fiber.

I too am thinking exhaust mods for my 2003 LeMans.  Has anyone modified the stock cans?  The rear plate of the stock can seems to be bolted on, although I haven't tried to remove it yet.  Remove some of the stock baffles?

You really should search around on v11lemans.com

One of the early mods was to disassemble the stock mufflers and shorten them by cutting off the rearmost chamber.

I had a set of them on my Nero Corsa.  If you message ratguzzi, maybe he will sell them to you, since he's running the Ti mufflers on the bike, now.

I just called FBF and had no luck with whom I spoke with on getting anything for my LeMans. The fellow I spoke with said the last time they had any V11 pipes was 3-4 years ago. Could you let me know who your friend worked with at FBF to get some V11 pipes...thanks!

MIVV makes a set of stainless ones. They look really nice and complement the lines of my Café Sport. Youtube 89milleGT channel has video w/ sound. Leave the dB killers in unless you like obnoxious and loss of low and mid power.

why not just contact M4?  Most of these slip-ons are generic.

PM sent David with contact info.

You can pull a lovely sound off the stock cans by drilling the back-end as you suggest.  Will get a pic

You can see the approx 1/2"dia circular cut at the top. It lets out a bit more sound. Want more, drill more.  Easy. Dremel is your friend.

I did call M4 direct...said they have no fitments for the V11 anymore.

Well...I just bought a used set of carbon slip ons. A member listed them on eBay and shortly afterwards saw my WTB on V11LeMans. They are in good condition (some scratches and scuffing) and will go on my '02 V11. Not sure of the brand as he did not know.

That said I still need a set for my '03 and since its just about in new condition I really want a set of new or like new carbon slip ons for it. I contacted FBF again via an email address suggested by a member, we'll see if that helps.

I guess in the end Mistrals would be an option. Though so many here say the FBF units sound so good.

I have mistrals on my V11 Cafe, and a friend of mine said my bike sounds like a Ferrari. I think that was meant as a compliment.

If the Mistrals are a bolt on for a v11 LeMans, I'd be interested.  What's your price?

Here are the Mistrals on my old V11.  Purchased from MG Cycle.  Do not remember the exact cost but < $600 as I recall.  Really added to the look of the bike in comparison to the stock IMO.
