Ambo with sidecar on CL
« on: May 10, 2015, 10:53:59 AM »
This looks like a decent rig at a reasonable asking price. Cylinders not chrome, period correct International sidecar, solo seat, Wixom bags. Should be fun!

That's a very nice combination. I had an ElDorado with the same International sidecar. It's just about perfect for the bike, both in terms of its style and size. Never should have sold that bike.

I'll enthusiastically second that emotion!

So Bob ... in retrospect, why DID you sell it?   The more I think about it, the more I may never sell anything again; I always regret it.    I'll let the estate sale deal with it ... !

For the usual dumb reasons. Insufficient garage space and limited budget. I built the combination and rode it for about 10 years. From the age of 3 or so, my son would sometimes join me in the sidecar. As he grew we began to be interested in getting a sports car, something with a roof of sorts and more space and amenities. I sold the ElDorado combo and we bought a Triumph TR4, sight unseen, and flew from Michigan to Iowa to pick it up and drive it home. In effect, we traded an adventure we knew for one we didn't. And the Triumph was an adventure of the very good sort. So, while I regret selling the Eldo, it was for a very good cause.
