Long before the term "Dual Sport", there was the term "Street Scrambler."Basically, it was a street bike with cool-looking high pipes....The Big Four from Japan made many models like this one...COOL BEANS!! :thumb:

Scramblers were a cool styling exercise that helped sell bikes with minimal additional investment over the base model. I grew up on them and prefer the high pipe look to their street siblings. Still do as I find the Triumph Street Scrambler more appealing than the Street Twin. Guess the old formula still works.

That's a time capsule and a nice example!  Cool beans! :thumb:  :boozing:

Back in the day, as a skinny teenager, I LUSTED after this green 2-stroke scrambler from Yamaha - 1969-1971 DS6-C

Looking at Arts bike and my 73 bmw 600 I’m struck by how the Honda is so modern compared to the bmw.

Looking at all the various models HONDA made back in the day...they were some fabulous, well engineered motorcycles! :thumb:  :boozing:

I had a '72 CL450. and i loved that bike. this was also the first motorcycle that i have been into that was equipped with torsion bar valve springs. Not that that means anything !?
Nothing much better than a Tannat from the Salta region.

My first scrambler: '68 CL-175. As a teenager I beat the living hell out of that bike keeping up with my friends on their Yamaha DTs and Suzuki TSs. It never stopped running despite the abuse.

I like the looks. Never rode one. I question the usefulness as city bike, but they sure look cool. For the modern version, I'm looking forward to seeing a Scrambler Ducati up close.

Those seem like two different bikes. I think the 1100 Pro would be a better comparison to the Triumph.

As A city bike it could keep up with expressway traffic and I could park it anywhere, also take girls for evening lakefront rides and neighborhood bars and restaurants and ride around for my court appearances. The late 750 and 900 were not as handy.

I love my Stornello. Currently in 'dual sport' mode, but is a real gem.

I am restoring a 1973 CL350.  I have had this bike for a long time.  I found it at a garage sale down the street for $250.  The exhaust almost looks NOS so I bought it.  I just recently went through the process of getting a title for it, and can now justify spending some money on it.

I hope to have it looking close to this one day.
