Maintenance whilst confined
« on: April 03, 2020, 11:09:28 PM »
Ok, while staying home I'd done all the things on the list (well most of them), so I thought I'd do a little regular maintenance on the Breva.

Except there wasn't much - the tyres were good, the oil didn't need changing, I'd done the brake fluid recently, the brake pads are near new. Then I spotted this:

The blinkerfluid was getting down a bit. My problem is that it's not mentioned in the manual, and I can't for the life of me find a drain or refill plug. Can anyone help?

Level looks a little down.  How are the other three?

If all four blinkers are low, check the relay for leaks. Very common problem in early April.

Wow dude it is so obvious that they (mg) felt it wasn't needed, all you have to do is take that screw out and lay the bike down on its other side to fill it back up, helps if you have a syringe or something similar, then put the screw back in, also helps if you have a few buddies around to pick the bike back up, then while you're at it and have buddies to help you, you might as well do the other 3, hope that helps, I'll post some pics later.  :violent1: :boozing: :boozing: :boozing:

Perhaps when you get around to changing your fork oil, the front ones will fix themselves. You never know your luck in a big city.

Hey guys, thanks for all the help!

I checked the other three blinkers, and they're all OK, and I looked under the seat and the relay is completely dry, so it's a mystery.

Unfortunately, because of the lock-downs, I can't get a few mates (eg Malik) to come around, so I attempted to fix it on my own. Wouldn't you know it - the rest of the blinkerfluid leaked all over the garage floor, and I couldn't get it back in no matter how I tried.

So I went to the auto shop, and the shelves were empty of blinkerfluid (cv19 effect I assume).  I finally ended up using some spare coolant I had, and I drilled and tapped the blinker to make a fill hole:

Do you think that will be OK? Should I have used a crush washer?

You better have used distilled water, or the residue will build up over the next 35 years and you’ll have to waste that coolant when you take the lens off to have it autoclaved..
BTW..
Are you sure that’s water ?
Just looking back in my memory a bit... :embarrassed:
