Hmmmph! I did not know that Hewlitt Packard made steak sauce. It might be too crunchy with all those chips in there.  🥩🥩🥩

Reserve, New Mexico - - just down the road a ways from Datil!

A nice ride for breakfast or lunch...and yes, there is a gas station there also! :thumb:  :boozing:

JJ, how far apart are the gas stations?  Say for a bike that needs a fill for 150 miles tops

You'll be fine...There is gas in Quemado...gas in Datil...gas in Reserve...gas in Magdelena, etc.  Probably 40-50 miles apart...

Friends don't let friends use steak sauce.

True - but friends make sure you get a GOOD steak!

Several interesting areas to visit during the rally. 1) Socorro - the Mineral museum at the University. 2) La Ventana Arch. Beautiful canyon area. Take some pictures of your bike with this scenery in the background. Take from Quemado, 36 north then 117 to the arch then 40 west then 53 west, 36 south to Quemado. Nice , quiet trip. 3) Mogollon and the Catwalk. Take 32 south from Quemado to 12 thru reserve to 180 south. At Alma 159 to the ghost mining town of Mogollon. I will visit it this year. Also just south take a winding road to the Catwalk. I visited this last year- highly recommended. What a neat old gold mining place winding up the mountain. Park your bike and take a hike.4) If youíre on a long trip then take the Devilís Highway - 191 - in Arizona from Clifton to Alpine. Maybe stay at Hannigan Meadow. No gas on this stretch so fill up in Clifton. Amazing stretch of road. Enjoy!

See ya when you get here, JJ!
Had a birthday breakfast with Mrs. Twowings in Pie Town at Pie Town Pies (formerly the Gatherin' Place) and it was Mmmmm good!

Bonus: saw some activity around the Pie-O-Neer, the FOR SALE sign is gone and it looked like re-opening might be imminent

No that's funny. Former BMW owner. There is an annual BMW rally here, I went to one with my Airhead when I first moved here,  I was bored out of my mind. No reflection on the Top of the Rockies Rally, that one was always a good time.

Never heard of that BMW rally before...(???) What time of the year do they do it?  Is it still an annual event?

It is a Northern Calif Group that puts it on. It is an annual event but they didn't hold it last year due to -. I don't know when it is held exactly. I think sometime in August. I will see if I can find out.

Back in the mid-to-late 1980's, I rode a 1983 BMW R80RT for five years...
I remember the SOCAL BMW club was quite active, and had an annual event in October around Mission Bay in San Diego that I attended for years.  It was a good group of enthusiasts... :thumb: :boozing:
