Presto chango!
« on: June 06, 2021, 07:14:07 PM »
Messing around in the shop this afternoon with the 850-T and the stuff that came with it. I think I can make a "silk purse" out of this "sows ear".

I’m not sure how anyone could doubt that you could Charlie. When I picked up my G5 one friend told me to get rid of it right away and the other told me to get a tetanus shot. Now they just bow down silently. Can’t wait to see how it comes out.

Eventually. But, right now it's 3rd in line behind finishing the Morini and making the Pantah roadworthy. Then there's all the customer work that comes first...

If anyone has a pair of V7 Sport "swan neck" handlebars, I'm interested in buying them. Would also like to find 750 S3 headpipes and a pair of the passenger grab handles too.

This will be a cool bike Charlie!  Makes me wish I had snagged the 850T that came up locally a few months ago.

This one literally "came out of the blue" - random email from a lady that wanted to sell all of her motorcycle stuff. The deal was made, she even delivered, now my shop is overflowing with "stuff".  I've thought about doing this every time a found an 850-T, but it wasn't "economically feasible" when I had to buy a tank, seat, fender, etc. Those parts came with the bike, so it's doable this time around.

:thumb:  Looks like everything there to make a V7Sport replica.  "V850TSport"   :boozing:

I've already named it the "850 S2" - S2 because it's sort of between a 750S and S3. That should be sufficient to keep the purist from getting all uptight.

Mine looked pretty much like yours when purchased from a farm equipment  repair shop in the Midwest.
Much elbow grease,$ and time and it turned into this.
Certainly yours will be a great bike

Those 750S are one of the coolest Moto Guzzi made I think. They seem longer, do they have a mid-lenght swingarm or even longer?

I think those long, low shark gill mufflers just pull the eye down and back to make it look long and low... camera angle probably accentuates that

Optical illusion. Wheel sizes, fork and shock lengths are the same.

The 750 S3 was offered in 1974 as the next in line after the V7 Sport, in North America we got the V7 Sport with dual disc brakes, the 750S is the same bike with a different paint scheme and the tool box lids are similar to the 850T without the louvers punched in them and black mufflers and Aprilia cast alloy signal light bodies.

This bike came into Canada from Germany and I was lucky to get hold of it.

the 1975 750 S3 was basicly a T3 with a shorter stroke engine, the parts manual is a couple page suplement to the 850T parts manual that covers the gas tank, side covers, seat, exhaust, signal lights and a few other bits, handle bars are LeMans type, Lemans type switch gear Aprilia cast alloy signal light bodies, a nice looking bike but not the engine spec of the V7 Sport or 750S. This one went back to its original owner after a restoration.

Like I wrote above, I'll be building a (never existed) "S2" - not S or S3 spec., sort of somewhere in between. I'd really like to find a pair of V7 Sport "swan neck" handlebars and some S3 header pipes.
