No references, just remembering history. Kent says the same thing. I think if you check the ingrediants today it will say cane sugar and corn syrup. I have some Mexican Coke here now that I offer to guests. I drink soft drinks but only occaisionally these days.
I remember back in the 80s that there was a movement of people who believed their heart flutters were coming from caffeine and cane sugar. I even knew some people who would carry powdered fructose because it didn't give them the symptoms.
It looks like the food industry switched to high fructose corn syrup to reduce costs and increase profits and sold it as a healthier alternative.
When my wife left Coke and the free supply of sodas, I pretty much stopped consumption.
