I bought a set of used front brake discs for $40 recently, versus ten times as much for new ones. I figured that means I'm closing in on true rock bottom 'frugality'. They apparently have only 7000 miles on them and it seemed like a worthwhile gamble.  I'm now awaiting delivery on Monday.

I'm so cheap that I've had a running 42 year battle with the most beautiful and understanding woman in the world over where to set the thermostat in the summer and winter.   It's come at a terrible emotional cost but my electric bill for an all-electric 3200 sq ft house is $170 a month so there's that to console me.

Lannis

Back in the 80's when I was in Her Majesties Submarine Service, I used to turn the heating off, on the day I went to sea on patrol. The missus wasn't too pleased about it by all accounts and got one of the neighbours to turn it back on.  :violent1:

Saturdays and Sundays, I ride over to a friend's house for football.  I cook and they provide the beer and provisions.

I'm so cheap the 700 didn't start, isn't it wonderful !!   But it said 12.5 volts. Charge for now, new one next year. It still works w/a charge, why buy one.

GliderJohn knows it's more frugal - and more fun - to get your aircraft's energy out of the atmosphere rather than from a fuel tank.

"New?" Is that in the frugal Guzzisti lexicon?

I bought my current daily driver in 1978.  Some assembly required.

Same here, but I do trim my beard w/it's out 3 inches.

Me too.  Do you use a store-bought tool, or do you just lean in on a hot campfire?  I do the latter.  Trims the eyebrows at no extra cost.  There's your guzzi content.  :thumb:

Responding to my own quote, they're hardly worn, not scored at all, and after installation today I find they work great. Not a hint of pulsing.  Being 'frugal' is an art form...  and it's sure great when the art works out

I was wondering when someone was going to chime in about cutting their own hair.. HaHaHa..I have been cutting my own hair with a "Flowbee" for over 20 years. My wife does the trimming around the ears, and the neck with a small  electric  beard trimmer.
I cant even imagine how much $$$ I have saved over the years!

Anyone else here use a Flowbee, or a Robocut hair cutting system?
Rick.

I looked it up to see what a "Flowbee" was.

Several Youtube videos and testimonials later, I'm very sure that the $17 I pay a nice lady to cut my hair and trim my beard every 6 weeks or so is Money Well Spent, even in GuzziMiserLand ....

.... even if that IS $3000 in 20 years!   Even for an ugly old sod like me.

ACC yes thats it, i have the stock bags. Not the hb. I have seen those amd while they aren’t terribly expensive, i dont think a homebuilt set would be too hard. I wish i could borrow a set to cooy with some welding rod to get the shape

I would love any pics of anyones home made designs.

I only use one kind of soap.  Once the bar is too thin to lather up good, I get out a new bar, "glue" the old one to it in the shower and let it dry till the next shower, and it's all one piece, lathering up like a good 'un.

That's the procedure I wrote up to get my invitation to the Moto Guzzi club.

I'm in your camp Lannis.  That 40 minutes or so on a Saturday morning is one of the most effective ways to put you in a good mood the rest of the day.
The smell of Pinaud clubman, the hot towel and straight razor trim and and all the weekly gossip worth every penny of that 20 dollar bill. Once a month I foget the word frugal and go for it
