If grizzly bears were killing 150 people a year, we'd exterminate 'em.   But Bambi?    Aw, the poor, cute little thing ....

Line up 150 human bodies side by side, hear 150 stories about the pain and suffering of those left behind ....

And about 3 of those people every year are killed by a car hitting a deer and throwing it through the windshield of ANOTHER car ....

A couple of weeks ago, I came around a curve on a paved country road to find a large buck mounting a doe right in the middle of the road.  It's a heavily wooded area near a large, Boy Scout Camp and I've seen deer on both sides of the road on several occasions over the years so I was only going 30mph.  If I had been driving faster, I wouldn't have been able to stop in time because they were heavily hooked up and they didn't even pay any attention to me when I stopped with the engine still running.  I sat there (engine idling) for around 20 seconds and thought that a car/truck may come around the curve and take me out if I didn't move so I started blowing my horn and that caused both of them to run into the woods to my right.  Even a small deer can ruin your day when you're riding a motorcycle.  Fortunately, this time........no damage.  Just this morning, I went for a ride and went down this same road but this time, I kept it a 15-20mph when I went through this particular area.

Vetter lives near the Pismo Beach golf course in secluded Carmel, Ca. and I'll bet there are reg.s saying no guns allowed nor killing of wild animals.     It's all very uppity, dontcha know.

Holy cow. I hope he wasn't the victim of the single worst thing about that design; the placing of that windscreen so close to and at most rider's eye level.

And 73... when did that happen? CV is another of those celebrities forever caught in a Rindy Ross "Take Another Picture" time freeze.

Hope he pulls through OK.

Damn, he is pretty banged up for a low speed collision. I bet the poor guy did some nasty interaction with his fairing.

Shouldn't you then have almost hit two deer?

Or

Was it some inter-species madness brought on by CWD?

I have twice gotten deer with my bike, the last one a major broadside. Don't see where the Vetter posed any issues. When you hit something substantial, the swing point is the front axle so I was launched upward and over. Doubt I even touched it.

If 150 people a year were killed by other people ... oh never mind  :boxing: Lannis , please get over the idea that only humans matter .

  Dusty

I'll try.   In the meantime, maybe you should try getting over the idea that animal lives are equivalent to human lives ....

Up in these parts if a bear kills a man he has a hearing and gets to state his case.  If found innocent he's not detained.  guilty he's hanged.  If guilty with an excuse, he's hung from a helicopter and banished to a desert isle.  If he returns, he was warned.  If the cause of death was human dumbfuckery, it is not considered a chargeable offense.
