Recommendation
« on: August 03, 2022, 06:23:25 PM »
Needed a new rear tire for my EV, found a good price with the Motosport company.
Price was under the free shipping deal (a penny) so asked if they could ship free anyway.
They said no problem! Most would say no, especially with their low prices.
Ordered it late Sat. afternoon, came today, Wed.!
Got the tire on today, I'll balance it tomorrow....HOT here!
That was quick! Here's their link, in case anyone's interested.
I'm not connected to the company, but I'll likely be calling them again.

I’ve had good luck finding tires and very quick shipping with them. I usually look there first.

I would have been charged $12 more at Dennis Kirk, for one tire
Guess it depends on the tire you're looking for

I ended up ordering a Dunlop 130-90-17, which is so close to the same size as a .140/80-17 that it doesn’t matter.
I just didn’t want to go with the Kenda brand after researching where they are produced. Probably would be fine but the ole Dunlop workhorse was just a few more bucks and the Shinko brand I’ve been running for years has priced themselves along with the more high dollar brands.
I ended up paying around 100 bucks, with tax’s, for the Dunlop.

That's a great deal, I'd be embarrassed to say what I got charged for a similar tire at a local shop. And it came with a JPCycles sticker still on it.   :violent1:

Just think how many overpriced oatmeal cookies you can get Dan with all the $ you just saved.

Those Shinko brand I’ve been running for years has them manufactured in lower wage countries (e.g. Korea or China).
Maybe if I spent more I could get more than the 7000 miles I got out of my last Kendra?

IDK but I’ve never been able to get more that 7k from any rear tire I have ever put on any bike I’ve ever ever owned.
It was my understanding that the Shinko brand was manufactured in Korea not China, who knows.

Maybe just Korea at one time, not any longer.
Shinko Tires is a Japanese company that began manufacturing bicycle tires in 1946. In 1998 Shinko purchased Yokohama Tire's motorcycle tire business. Shinko designs and engineers their tires in Japan, but has them manufactured in lower wage countries (e.g. Korea or China).Aug 15, 2011

I order tires from my local dealer and have them mount them.  They give me about the same deal if I was internet-ting and shipping.

I've been using Metzlers on the EV since I bought it in '07.

What kind of mileage do you normally get with metzlers?
