I read a post suggesting that you cant use tubes on  conti radials...

I read this on the conti website which seems to say you can...

If Sport Attack, Road Attack and ContiForce tyres (Z rated radials) are fitted on Tubed Type rims/wheels with Continental inner tubes, the maximum speed is then restricted to 130 mph (210 km/h, from Z to H speed rating).
Continental tyres labelled TT can only be fitted on Tubed Type rims/wheels and must be fitted with a correctly sized Continental inner tube.
Please note that the maximum speed for tubeless tyres fitted with an inner-tube is 210 km/h (approx. 130 mph).

On a V7.....I think you are pretty safe.  Mine would not hit 130 mph if I drove it off a cliff.

Had RA 3's mounted on my V7 III Special last week end. They provided a nice improvement in ride comfort, haven't had a chance to push it in the cures so I won't comment on handling. When I get a couple of hundred miles on them at 130 mph I report back.

The polite way to put it is "these tyres are well within the V7's performance envelope". Give the big blocks an excuse to snigger or sniff.

I mounted one on the front of my spoked Special V7II.  Left the rear bias ply Michelin...it was fairly new.

I just returned from Virginia where i was able to push the bike hard through some twisty stuff.  Very impressive feel from the front, and the bike handled great (i have sorted the front with proper springs and gold valve, and rear shocks are Hagons).

It will be even better after the rear wheel gets one...

You will be amazed at the increase in grip just from suspension upgrade set up properly for your weight.

I know. Even the preload set up at the stock rear shocks influence the handling significantly. And I already have tyres that have a lot more grip than the Sport Demons.

I have these tires on my V7 right now...

Trust me, there is no way you can reach the limit of the tires...trust me, I tried LOL...

Grip of the tires are pretty sweet when comparing to stock Demon. Def better in wet and cornering.  :thumb:

What sizes are being used?  I have a V7iii, spoked Rim’s.  Are heavy duty tubes the way to go?

You can make your spoke rims tubeless.
I did this with my bike using an Outex kit.

Heavy duty tubes are not necessary. Just good quality tubes, such as Michelin or Pirelli. Replace them with each new tyre. Or every second tyre if the valves are not rusted. Stand sizes per the manual are fine.

So I had the Conti’s fitted and Wow, it feels like a new bike. I have aftermarket rear shocks and a fork kit, so it felt better than standard anyway but the bike is transformed. You can actually feel the road and feel the suspension actually working.

Sure they won’t last as long as the pirelli’s, but that’s not a key factor for me.

I’d go as far as to say that if you’re thinking of meddling with the suspension or handling, swap the tires first. Actually I’d say for the money, £230 fitted here, it’s easily the best improvement you could make.

Buy a pair

My rear demon was gone at 3400. The conti now has 2500 and looks 1/2 gone. Very happy so far.

For those of you running inner tubes (I'm going to get new tubes and Conti Road Attack 3's to replace the stock Demons on my 2014 racer) are you using "slime" in the tubes or is that not suggested?

Running tubes in Contii RA3 CRs on my '73 V7 Sport. No Slime. What benefit would it provide?
