Title: Local Motorcycle Dealer Closes
Post by: kballowe on January 15, 2019, 08:43:25 PM
Bourbeuse Valley Harley-Davidson in Villa Ridge, Missouri has announced that it will cease operations on March 30th of this year.
Four miles from my house and very rural on a stretch of Old Route 66.

A family-owned business, they bought a small Honda/Yamaha dealership in the early 80's.  Later, they added Harley.

Sometime around 2003, I think - they built a new, very much larger building and then went strictly Harley.  I remember that they were always fair, and that they went out of their way to help stranded motorcyclists and get them back on the road, and they donated heavily to the local fundraisers.

They made up a little video to convey that they weren't forced, nor were they broke, but that it was "just time".
Both of them pushing 80 may have been a contributing factor.

Fair winds and following seas.

Yes.  They're very near the intersection of U.S. Highway 50 and Interstate 44 - about 10 miles west of Pacific and maybe 6 miles east of Union

No - head 10 miles west of that.

That place with the glass tower full of bikes was Fog Hollow.  They sold new bike parts, accessories, etc - and even had their own catalog.  The guy that owned the place had a HUGE warehouse in the old part of the city.  Bike boneyard.  They have been closed for a couple of years now.

Bourbuese Valley (pronounced burr bus) were nice folks.
Fog Hollow was part of Archway International Mortorcycle Salvage. In Wellston just outside STL city limits. Bad part of town. My brother's best friend was a fireman many years ago there. He quit when the idiots started shooting at firefighters responding to calls.
