Having lived in the NY Finger Lakes region for my entire 42 years and counting... I can heartily agree with s1120 in that you can't be sure what the weather in NY will be in April and May. Last year it warmed up enough the last week of March to be "riding weather" - it was 60 degrees and sunny. But a week later it went back to winter... we got a foot of snow the first week of April. Was cold, wet and miserable until Mothers Day weekend. I recall that one clearly because that was the first ride of the year for my wife and I.

That said, I've also seen it get to sunny and 70 in April and stay there all month.

You never know...

pretty crappy riding year all around last year....  I didnt have a bike, so i guess that was good..  Hoping for a nice one this year since im back on 2 wheels!!!!   Not often we have two crappy years in a row....

Thanks for the tips on routes, gear, common sense, and awesome pictures!
I know that was a really dark sky about to dump on you but a great pic.

if last year was an indicator of weather to come, Kentucky has become Rain-tucky, so dress accordingly.  Even in summer last year, I can't remember a one week period without rain.

2018 doubled the previous record for inches of rainfall in a year.  My septic system still hasn't fully recovered.  2 inches of rain in a day and we have to conserve water usage for a day or two.

Bev and I were riding the EV taking the Highway of Legends, CO 12, west from Trinidad CO, following the loop north to Hwy 160 and back east to Walsenburg, then down south on I-25 back to Trinidad.  Altogether, about 125 miles loop.

We got the double.  We hit rain going north on 12, then got the storm again with wind and hail going south on I-25.

Bev said the hail stung a little bit.  A good time was had by all.   :bike-037:

Unless you have family or business in Florida that you are dovetailing into your ride I'd skip it. Once you get to Take a left at Georgia head north up through the Carolinas then weave back and forth through NC, TN, KY, WV, VA and PA.  Some AMAZING riding awaits.
