1983 SPNT on MGNOC?
« on: July 02, 2019, 08:02:29 AM »
Anyone recognize the Red/white (or is it White/Red?) SPNT listed on the MGNOC classifieds site?  Is a former owner a board member here?  Thanks.

Yes, member here spmoto once owned that SP, I had an identical Red & White SP at the same time...  I'll dig up some photos of the two together, files are on a different 'puter.

Great running SP, lightened flywheel and some other cool mods as I recall.

Steve may come by and add more.

Best,

I recognize that '72 Ambassador below it (with the BMW /2 taillight) - I did all of the mechanical work on it.

I took many photos of that SP at the Italian meet in Sturbridge in '17, I believe. It was for sale then, same condition as now, at NOT the same price as listed now. I had a pic of it on my computer that I stared at for months, trying to justify buying it against the inevitable protests of  :thewife:. It went from the owner in NY, to the previous owner in Maine, who gave me dibs on it before listing it on the open market, where it went to the lucky owner in SC. Somehow I feel I'm being tortured by it being back on the market, with a little devil on my shoulder saying "go ahead, your kid won't miss that college money....".

Yep, it's a dandy. Had a fleeting thought of owning it for a third time when I saw it post on MGNOC.
Just got off the phone with the current owner. He has another SPNT that he's had since new. So, he's moving and needs to lighten the load. It'll make someone a solid runner if your built right for an SP. Short legs and long arms and it'll fit like a glove. Im happy to answer any questions about the bike.
