Another fun nowhere ride
« on: July 03, 2019, 11:31:46 AM »
Had a nice 1.5 day ride covering about 500 miles, mostly in north central KS. Sad news as my first stop was Lincoln, KS. I have a 100 year aunt at a nursing home there. Found out a couple of days ago that she was not doing well and when I arrived she had died five hour earlier.
Other than that a great rural ride. The biggest town I was in was Concordia with a pop. of just over 5,000. That is where I spent the night.
The Norge seems well sorted now and I am gaining much more confidence in it. It sure is a sweet ride when touring.

Sometimes 100 year old relatives just evaporate.  Just before you can visit.

She had a good 100th BD party that she could then actively participate in. She stayed fairly sharp mentally.

Have you been to the Kansas M/C Museum in Marquete? Found it by accident & found it really interesting in a small out of the way town. The originator was a true motorcyclist/racer. Before he passed he loved to give tours & point & tap on pics & items of interest with his cane. Americana.

I'm sorry for your Aunt, John.  I'll toss in a (not too old) photo of Lincoln, so folks can see what a metropolis it really is:

Sorry about your Aunt John, I bet she had some great stories. Think of the changes she'd seen in her lifetime. I was fortunate enough to have my mother until she was 93. She had some great tales about growing up in the back woods of the Ozarks that I'll never forget. She told me in the summer they would ride a mule out to the road to meet the ice man. On a hot day they would have to run the mule back to the house before the ice melted.

Condolences for your Aunt, John. Sounds like a good ride, though.
