What's the cheapest way to ship a motorcycle seat in the USA?
« on: February 23, 2015, 02:33:31 PM »
I have thought about parting with some motorcycle seats I am not using. I haven't found the web sites for the various carriers in the US to be very user friendly. What is a good, cheap way to ship a seat in the USA?

For good and cheap, but not fast, USPS parcel post will do the trick.

the cheapest? Greyhound bus.. I don't recommend it tho.. I find Fedex slightly less than UPS. Post Offfice might undercut that but I have more problems wUSPS than the others.. none are perfect so buy insurance and take pics of the item AND BOX W/LABEL and any reciepts/billing info.

I sold a Goldwing seat and it cost me $75.00 to send from MN to Calif.  Murphy's law...your buyer will always be at the opposite corner of the country!

Post Office, UPS or Fed Ex.

I'd probably go to the post office after the camera I sent into repair at UPS was sent through the US Mail.  Hell, I could've just as easily have gone to the post office myself.

Also it depends where it is going. If there is a UPS hub near by it could be less then USPS, if far away from a hub you can pay dearly. At work we always compare between the to.

Thanks guys. In the past few months, I've bought 2 used 1 piece seats for non-Guzzis. One guy charged my $15 for shipping and the other said he would cover the shipping in our deal and he ended up paying $65 or so.

The cheapest way is to ride it there.  Otherwise usps works for me.

USPS. I bought a custom seat for my Goldwing and it cost almost $100. to ship UPS and just a bit under that for fed ex.  USPS carried it from MA to AZ for $48.65  the guy sent it 3rd class. Took about a week and a half, but no biggie.

I guess those are the breaks when you want a seat called the "Road Sofa" ! I must say, it really is more comfortable than any seat I have ever sat on, but that is one big, heavy , thick fiberglass based MoFo.
