Our boys in OKC are looking good for the Western conference finals . Not there yet , but close . Stephen is beginning to play like a true NBA big man , ferocious on defense and on the glass , scoring when it is appropriate , and leading the team in badassery and jokes . Dang , what a funny guy  No porkie pies
Dusty

OK some of our Kiwis are awake now . Where are ya Muzz ?
Dusty

Watched the hi-lights last night.
He can rankle the opposition can't he.
3-2. And Dusty, YOU said that you didn't think they could even make the playoffs. Shame on you!

Did I say that :embarrassed: Our boys are at full strength for the first time in a couple of years . Durant is healthy , Westbrook is healthy , Kanter and Ibaka are in a groove , and Stephen has become the enforcer in the paint . He believes every rebound is his , and the little guys have no business coming into the sacred painted area . Even the bench players are getting it done :thumb:
Now where is Injundave and Johnr ? Come on fellas , this could be the year , although the Warriors won't be easy .

Hey Dusty
I'm here too keeping an eye out on all the dramas over there. That Steven Adams really is the cat's pyjamas. Tumeke bro.

He is going feral , kinda scares the opponents , they seem to believe his Maori brothers might pay them a visit  Another NBA player made the mistake of attempting a Haka , let's just say it didn't end well  Personally I think it really cool that a member of NZ's indigenous culture is thriving in the NBA

Lets hope they take the next game. :thumb:
Currie's mob may prove tricky.......... :undecided: (if the Thunder make it through.

If they continue to play like this ... This is the best OKC has played since "the Beard" was here .

113-99. West finals now! :thumb:

Alright fellas , it is real serious now . 60-47 Warriors at halftime , considering how poorly our boys are shooting this isn't so bad .
Now the boys are rolling 95 - 91 OKC about 4 minutes into the 4th quarter .
last edit 108-102 Thunder . What a great comeback victory .
Dusty

That stopped the Warriors winning streak! Another three more victories Dusty and the Glenmorangie comes out. :thumb:
Small interview with Steven Adams on our news tonight; a man of few words but so dead pan it was hilarious.

Sounded fine to me.
I see on our internet news that he apologised for calling the smaller guys "quick little monkeys" in an after match interview. He blamed it on his idiom and different meanings in different parts of the world. I would have to agree with him there; our lingo and interpretations are a wee bit different at times.

Durant said something like , "well yeah , they are" Steven meant no offense , and seems none was taken .

The game seems to be getting more coverage these days. This is probably due to it's increasing popularity here, but I suspect it is partly due to Steven Himself.
It's always a thrill for us to see someone from here doing well out in the big world. Gives us a buzz.
I must admit Dusty, when you first mentioned him on this board, I had no idea who he was!
Then there is a young NZ girl of Asian heritage who seems to be able to swing a golf club to effect making the news here from time to time.
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=11550042
There is also a young boxer who seems to be making a name for himself, Joseph Parker. I have to admit though, I don't fancy his chances against this Takum fella.

Steven might not have even been famous in NZ before coming to the US . The NBA is truly international because basketball has become so . Of course Steven has that thing one can't coach .
Being a legitimate 7' tall
Dusty

Hey if you have the time for a 48 minute doco on Steven (made by the Thunder), I rather liked what I saw in this one.

117 - 80 Thunder up end of 3rd quarter . So much for the game two Warriors blowout . Durant and Westbrook being their normal spectacular selves , Adams and Ibaka stalking the paint , Roberson playing well , as is Kanter  The OKC crowd is deafening , not sure the Warriors know what to think of that
Dusty

Adams took one for the team
(http://i.giphy.com/xT4uQd4sq5dTMX860U.gif)
totally OKC Blowout. 133 pts highest score in playoff history
-
Yep John , that was the incident that ignited the Thunder , don't be kickin' my boy
Dusty
-
Totally deliberate assault! I would describe doing that to a 7' Maori as ... "unwise".
Were there any official (or otherwise for that matter ) repercussions for the blue team number 23?
-
Hehe "unwise!" Typical kiwi understatement.
-
The NBA is a tough league , most of the players are monsters . Steven handled the situation properly, as did his team , and it ignited a run . The Thunder are for real fellas .
Dusty

Makes it 2 all by my reckoning.
Warrior's unbeaten run is struggling a bit I feel.
Steven's sister is getting back on form in the shotput too. Just heaved her best for the year after having reconstruction surgery on her shoulder.
-
Valerie is his sister?? I hadn't realised that. She was on the news tonight biffing a shot a humungous distance. The whole family must be huge!
Here she is, about to 'put' one.
(http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb116/johnr39/Valerie%20Adams.jpg) (http://s210.photobucket.com/user/johnr39/media/Valerie%20Adams.jpg.html)
If that wahine [wah-hee-nee,] had been in the audience there might have been some 'instant karma' coming Blue 23s way!

Seems she was well known before Steven . What we may be witnessing is the unraveling of a team that the experts had handed the title to before the games were played . No one counted on OKC being completely healthy .

The Thunder are for real. What I like about the Warriors game (or any team playing their style ball) is the quick ball movement, finding the open man for a 3 or the open man cutting to the hoop. I haven't enjoyed watching the NBA for a long time. It became a WWE event.... pass to a big, dribble once, move to the hoop.... foul. Free throws. Same thing on the other end. Same thing again on the same end. Then back again. What's exciting about watching guys shoot free throws.
The quickness and lack of whistles is what I like to see.
-
Demar , I agree , in most ways the game is more fun now . The rule change re hand checking has changed the game , and flopping is much less common now . I mean come on , a 6'8" 260 lb mass of muscle and bones gets sent flying by a tap from another players back side ??? One rule I would like to see changed , when a defensive player goes straight up , and the offensive player jumps into him should NOT be a foul . Still , I do kind of miss watching big men like Olajuwon , or Bill Russell patrol the paint .

Good points Dusty. I absolutely *HATE* James Harden's game... flop, flop, and fuc**ng flop. He plays his game to get to the line. That is as important, probably more important, to him than any other aspect of his game.
It will be interesting to see if Durant stays with the Thunder if they beat the Warriors.

Rumors have been circulating for years that Durant will leave OKC for the Wizards (close to his hometown of Baltimore) , the Heat (for the endorsement deals) , the Lakers or Knicks for the same reason , I will bet a quarter that as long as the Thunder remain in the hunt and his buddy Westbrook stays KD will remain in OKC . His low key demeanor and gentlemanly personality fit really well in Oklahoma , he is hugely popular here .
Dusty
-
I wouldn't be surprised if KD heads home to the Wizards and tries to build a team around him.
He might stay here if we stay contenders.
Westbrook could go back to LA to win and gain endorsements. Again, if we stay contenders....
Whatever they do, it will likely happens when their respective contracts are up regardless of whether they've won a title here.
-
72 - 53 OKC at halftime . It isn't over , but the Warriors seem over matched . When 7' Steven Adams can guard Curry on the perimeter GS is in trouble . All a bit surprising , but very fun :thumb:
Dusty
-
118-94 OKC . Steven A had 4 offensive rebounds , 11 points . Durant and Westbrook were brilliant , as was the whole team . One more win in three games and finals here we come . Amazing
Dusty

Love that Steven Adams one hand bullet pass. :thumb:
That Glenmorangie is inching closer..

Actually Western finals , but yes , the Thunder are at home tonight and only need to win one . \
23- 20 OKC end of first . Wake Johnr up so we can all celebrate together
Something no one has mentioned , the Warriors starting center is an Ozzie , just another reason for the Kiwis to get excited

Alright you Kiwis , make some noise down under . 82 - 75 Warriors with about 5 minutes left . Come on Thunder !
Dusty

Don't give up yet , 90-86 Warriors with about 1min 30 sec left . Looked bleak for a bit .
Dusty

In the spirit of sportsmanship , let me congratulate the Warriors . Still a great run by the boys from OKC

Sad result. To you guys Stateside, having a Kiwi playing in any final in the NBA is a bit of a buzz for us, so that is why some of us wanted the Thunder to pull it off.
The fight to actually make the BIG final might not actually help the Cavaliers. Up until these matches no one could beat them.
-
Congrats to the Thunder on a great series. They played tough. Durant and Westbrook have a ton of talent but I have to say, I didn't appreciate Westbrook laughing at Curry during a press conference after game 4. Who's laughing now? I have yet to see the Warriors players disrespect or make fun of another team or their players. I think Durant leaves OKC after this. He may end up on the Warriors in a trade for Barnes and someone else. It's the someone else that's the big question. When Westbrook wins a final he will have reason to gloat. Right now he's just another player that didn't help his team into the finals.

Well said John. My Glenmorangie was all set to go if the Thunder took it out.
Back in the cupboard for another year.

I hope Durant comes to Houston...might give the Rockets a fighting chance...we're getting nothing out of Dwight Howard, and Harden got too distracted with one of the Kardashian sisters...need some players who really want to compete...seems like these folks are just out for showmanship rather than competing.

I'll bet a hush puppie that Durant stays put . OKC just needs to move Westbrook to shooting guard and bring in a true point . Sorry about what has happened to the Rockets , letting Chandler Parsons go was a mistake , he was the scrapper and defensive guy . As good as the beard is , he needs some support .
Dusty
-
I hope he comes to the Warriors...... he wants a ring.

I think Durant playing with Harden is just like playing with Westbrook. OKC is already a better team than Houston so why go there? The Warriors really do share the ball. Look at the series vs. OKC. Curry knew he was off and dished the ball to Klay. That series showed how good Klay really is. He is happy to play second to Curry be he can step up if Curry is having an off night(s) or can't go. Winning seems to be the #1 goal to the Warriors, they don't care who is the "best" on the team.
-

Even with the new salary cap I don't think GS can pay him enough after dealing with Curry and Thompson . Who would the Warriors give up to get Durant ? His style really would not compliment their style . No , he will more than likely stay in OKC . Remember , there are no guarantees of a ring anywhere , and the Thunder were this close twice now .
Dusty

I think the Warriors have the cap room to do it. They would most likely give up Barnes and 2 draft picks. I think Durant stays in OKC or becomes the Deion Sanders of the NBA..... goes to the Bay Area to get a ring.

So far as Harden, Durant has been there and done that.
IIRC Durant has another year on his contract in OKC. After that, who knows? Speculation is DC.
