Gas mileage
« on: July 10, 2022, 08:19:00 PM »
My V85 get around 38 mpg @75 to 80 mph. a sweet ride and really go handling .if it brake’s out on the road, just as well be on the moon for support.  as far as my Harley FXLR low rider with a 107” engine.  54 mpg @ 70 to 80 mph, rough ridding slower handling than my V85. But if goes down lots of support.  Now that I’ve put my spider sidecar on FXLR low rider. For 400 mile shake down run with same speeds. 40 mpg. Now at 80 year old is read to go to Sturgis SD. (sidecar & blue pills I’m read to go)Rudy

Sounds like something’s wrong with your V85TT if it’s only getting that much. They’re supposed to average around 50 mpg, no?

Are you doing the calculations by hand or using the av on the bikes dash? Real mileage I've only gone below 50 US MPG on an interstate. Beating it to death  in the mountains 52-57.

This is from entering the data at each fillup. In all, I am not too pleased with e fuel efficiency. The bike is completely stock. While I like the bike a lot and the fuel efficiency isn't terrible, I feel it should be better.

With the adventure bags the aerodynamic drag is awful on any bike.
Double the speed, quadruple the drag.

MPG ratings used to alway be verified at 45 mph on a closed course. Not sure what they do today if they do anything different.

I always get much better fuel economy than many riders because I don’t accelerate hard and love two lane roads.

Lose the bags and the fuel economy will improve.

I only have a couple hundred miles on my V85, but at fill up I calculated over 50, but I didn’t check how much the dealer put in the new bike or whether they bothered to put in 93 octane.

I just got 49.5 actual MPG on my 2022 V85 with the touting screen, Arrow headers and aftermarket muffler. This was a mix of 80 MPH freeway, 20-40 MPH dirt road and 60-85 MPH paved 2 lane. 210 miles and 4.24 gallons to fill. I do not wring it out but also do not baby it. Kind of conservative old man fun riding. ;)

Just did my second fill up.  55 mpg with all the Guardia D'Onore accessories installed.  Constantly varying the RPMs and mostly 4th gear.

By comparison, my Road Glide gets that running 55 to 65 mph.

Once the Guzzi is broke in the bags will go on the shelves until needed.

Don't pay any attention to the fuel usage calculation on the dash, check it by hand calculations at fill ups.  I'm not sure how the computer is calculating usage but it's way off.

I recently did 1100 freeway miles with metal side bags on mine where I was tracking each fill up.  With the bike cruise control sitting at a GPS measured 70 mph (~75 mph on the dash) my worst tank was 43 mpg and my best was 48 mpg.  If I'm riding around on rural roads, I've gotten up to 55 mpg.  My bike is a 2020 model.
