Just a question
« on: November 17, 2015, 06:58:05 PM »
Anyone else having trouble keeping up with the V9 , the future of MG , the Eicma , the spy shots , and now the Stornello threads ?  Heck , I think there may be a couple of others  Not complaining , but if anyone wants to advise on a merger , we are listening  :coffee:

This always happens when a new model opens.  Some threads can be merged, but there are legitimate differences in some others.

California 1400 generated a bunch of threads.  I merged some into a threadfest, but some other didn't really fit, so stood alone.

There is no dealer on my island, so I won't get to see one unless I buy it and have it shipped here.

Well, this is my first input to the V9 thread mash-up.
Drop every other post about horse power. At these low numbers, suspension/handling are what count.[ E.g. something about riding a slow bike fast being more fun!]
Drop all posts with the word "Hipster". These bikes will be whatever the purchaser decides it will be.
If I listened to everyone (including Dealers) who told me to trade up from a chic's bike(sportster),
I may never have put 44k miles in 2-1/2years on mine(with the peanut tank).
I also would not have had a riot bolting a sidecar to it for the summer..so drop any post mentioning a lack of gas capacity.
Talk more about it's unique tank shape, a future classic.
And that exposed frame looks great!
I just hope it's more than just a little bit bigger than the V7, I blew my diet all to hell this past summer.

~Truth be told, I enjoy everyone's posts about the V9!

Yeah...me too..confused.

Love the picture Rocker, thank you!  The tank is gorgeous.  I will withhold judgement until I see one at MPH and ride one.

Something tells me I will have the V7R until someone pries it out of my cold, dead hands.

Oh did I tell you guys I sat on an Indian Scout last weekend?  Did not like the foot forward geometry.  Beautiful bike.  Seat is super cramped also.  I don't think my body fits the bike.  Likely cut the Scout off my maybe-someday list.

Au contraire Dusty,  This is my favorite time of year. New bikes, pics of new bikes, new bike specs...it's like Christmas at WG!  I especially love all of the hand-wringing and whining from the folks that have yet to see these bikes in the flesh, let alone ride them.  It's hilarious!  While the current version of the V9 probably isn't my cup of tea, I'll reserve judgement until I can ride one myself, and will eagerly await other incarnations of this engine.

Oh , it's fun , but we need a program to keep up

The speculation is what wears me out.   The same lack of information over and over and over again.  I keep going back to the thread in hope of finding a real fact or two only to be confronted by arguments about the unknown.  Apparently, even though we all suffer from the same disease, some of us - somehow - know more than others.  And, damnit, you're wrong and I'm right.  And if someone on the internet is wrong, it's my job to correct them (insert snapping suspenders here).

We are coming into Winter in the Northern Hemisphere  Most of this is in good fun , although passions do seem to running a bit high . Maybe we could take our cue from the recent Rugby thread , where  National pride was at stake , and our Ozzies , Brits , and Kiwis acted like gentlemen .

Good luck with that.  Round us up and give us a lecture.  As a moderator, it must be like herding cats or running a daycare center.

Sometimes yes , although I really like the cats  Usually try to leave the lectures to Luap , he is better at them , and can just push a magic button and make all of this go poof  :police:

As 'extreme' as it sounds I'd be all for wiping the slate clean after the official announcement and creating a thread for each new model and maybe keeping the one specific to the new engine.

I have been watching these V 9 threads.  They started out with most folks diss -ing the V 9s as under powered,
atavistic hardware, already been done by Triumph and sportster,  and about a hundred other reasons to hate the V 9.
For all that, the threads just keep posting and posting.  Me thinks they do protest too much.
I think you all are closet lovers of the new V 9s and Guzzi has hit a marketing nerve.  They are going to make money from sales of this model.
If it was a bad and boring as all you diss -ers say, the threads would have died quite far back.  But like that battery bunny, they just keep going on and on.
