Title: Who knew
Post by: mechanicsavant on May 07, 2021, 07:27:12 AM
I’ve been studying the owners manual for my 2021 V7 stone (anniversary) paying particular attention to the digital dash feature . On page 90 about 4 paragraphs down where it’s describing the programming for the gear shift light it states “Once the threshold is exceeded the display will show GEAR SHIT text and the Moto Guzzi logo will flash .”
WOW I certainly won’t ignore that one !

The fact that you can read the owner's manual at all suggests that you are under 45 years of age and have excellent eyesight.  Me, not so much.  I'm looking forward to a pdf version, which is not yet available at manuals.motoguzzi.c om.  I took possession of my 2021 V7 Stone yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed the 25-mi trip home over back roads.  I found the gear indicator to be a handy addition, but of course not essential.

                                                                                                                                        5-7-21

I'm pretty sure that's why we wear gloves while riding and are advised to wash our hands frequently.

Be well, stay well,
DougG

Our Triumphs had programmable tachs for years.  You could set limits for track, street, and such.  The track guys likes the feature as they could see the lights out of the corner of their eye and said it helped them in the heat of battle.
Ski-Doo snowmobiles are pre-set with a limit from the factory until a set number of break-in miles has been achieved.

Dear Sib thank you for the age reference. A mighty magnifying lens was brought into play . Doing your calculations I’d have been hanging there for a quarter century os so :boozing:

Guzzi has had programmable shift lights for at least 15 years.

So while your studying, I looked on GuzziUSA and couldn't find the stator output. You would assume they used the V85 unit but it is Guzzi. Can you find that and also the max RPM. I wondered if they lowered it with the HP decrease.

Given the typical Moto Guzzi standards..... the reasonable question is "If you can't trust the bike to be right, why would you believe a warning light that says something is wrong?"

Remember when you were riding along and the "Low Grease in all Bearings" indicator light came on?

Huzo! I howled.
Nicely done and hilarious. I've long past credentials, but could barely understand my own Brudda, 17 months older than I.
That close to NYC and back in the day everyone sounded like a movie gangster.  Keep safe,  R3~

True. And when her husband passed she ran the entire operation of building the bridge.  R3~

As I've often told my foreign co-workers "You will never understand America until you watch the movie My Cousin Vinny at least 3 times."

But I also think Merkin dialects have nothing on Strayan dialects.
