They do fine in Missouri as well-  as long as the tree comes in the house for winter!  We have figs all summer.  I'm not big fan, but the rest of the family likes them.

Yes, in upstate NY, we used to have to bury it, (in plastic), for the winter...just laid it down with the root ball intact...and erect it again in the spring!  :thumb:

Not to be a complete downer but I prefer black mission figs over brown turkey figs. We had a BT fig in the yard for about 15 years, it finally died about a year ago and in it's prime that tree produced a substantial amount of figs, but IMO they do not taste as good as a Mission fig.

Between the olive trees, blood orange trees, lemon and lime trees in the yard I need to order another fig tree. The birds and squirrels love those figs but there always seems to be enough for our household.

Black Mission figs are THE BEST!  That's what my father and grandfather preferred... :thumb:  :boozing:

I just ordered a mission fig from Tractor Supply which is sort of unusual, so will see what happens.

There is a little farm stand near us in the Finger Lakes that has figs.  We missed them last year.  My wife usually makes a fig tart with I think goat cheese.  It is great...

The only fig I've had is a fig newton.  I don't think I've ever seen or heard of them growing up here in Minnesota.

I have a tiger fig tree. Green on the outside, pink on the middle.

We've got a Celeste Fig and two ?? Fig trees rooted from cuttings of a tree across town where I lived when we rebuilt the V7 Sport and F1B.  They're on the corner of the house, growing with to the Wild muscadines that will frame the long-planned patio.  The Celeste was loaded with fruit last year.  Hard to beat fresh figs.

Everyone will sit beneath his own vine, and everyone will sit beneath their own fig tree....

This is a nice way to have any variety, (Black Mission, Brown Turkey, Kadota), of fresh figs... :thumb:
