Title: How much slop is normal for the driveshaft and shaft sleeve?
Post by: Petrus Rocks on September 06, 2021, 08:04:36 AM
Installing a new cardamon joint and bearing.  I noticed there is a bit of rotational movement in the drive shaft and shaft sleeve.  The splines are fine with no evident wear.  I changed the joint and bearing because I had a vibration around 60 mph in top gear that wasn't there previously.

There should be very little if any, "slop", cardan joint to driveshaft to coupler.

Use a good sticky grease and relube with every tire change and they'll last as long as we will . Peter

This is an over 100,00 mile bike.  I'll check with Harpers about new ones.  While there is no evident wear, it feels sloppier than I think it should.  Cardamon to driveshaft is fine.  Thanks.
