V85TT Givi cases and rack
« on: April 27, 2021, 05:05:05 AM »
I've given up waiting for my Urban side cases from MG I ordered with my purchase back in February. Dealer received a couple ship dates at first and now they don't even reply so we agreed to cancel the order.

I bought a set of the Givi Trekker cases with the quick release mounting rack and am wondering if anyone else has tham, how they're working out for you.

I like the system as most of the rack can be removed in less than a minute leaving a cleaner look if you choose to ride w/o the cases. It's also designed to be tight on the non-muffler side which allows you to put a bigger case there if you choose.

I went with the silver Trekker cases: 33L on the left and 46L on the right. They look similar to the Urban cases and have a nice feature of having both a top opening to get stuff on the top as well as full clam shell.

As far as availability and shipping, the whole kit is on Amazon and will be delivered within a week. Sure hope the supply chain situation in Italy turns around soon...

While I have the urban side cases as being stock on the Travel model, those GIVI cases are sharp looking. I have a Givi top box I put on and their products are well made

Finally got the Givi cases installed - took about 2 hours due to obtuse instructions (pictures only like Ikea). The quick disconnect racks are pretty cool and everything is solid. Not sure I like the re-positioned turn signals though.

Those look great, much better than the MG bags I have seen on the V85. The color looks great as well, maybe the first TT I have seen that I really like the look.

Yeah, the relocated TS are odd, but you will likely get used to it quickly.  I also like the Flag Swag. I have long done the same on my saddlebags. I normally go with Ireland as my second flag (50%) but on the Norge I went with Norway (25%) as it was a Norge ;-)

I was thinking of a German flag as that's my nationality but putting one on an Italian bike just didn't feel right. Now I need to decide If I want to use my Guzzi, MGNOC, AMA, and ADV Touring stickers or just leave it clean. I'm leaning towards the later.

What sort of V85 hybrid do you have going on there?
You have the red frame and seat of the Adventure model but the grey color of the standard V85TT.

Long time ago, I put Givi bags on my wife's Breva 750.  It had turn signal relocation as well.  I didn't care for the new location, so I shaved them down a cm or two and they 'tucked in' in the original mount points.  Might be an option here as well?
I just put a small 100th anniversario sticker on the back of my pannier.  I'll get a MGNOC sticker on it as well.

I wanted a grey bike but Hamlin's couldn't get one. Jim did have a McDonalds Adventure AND a grey body set so he put this together for me. Great service and support from Jim and the team...

Now that's going way above and beyond! That bike looks fantastic with those bags.  :thumb:

Who makes that lower front fender?

That's a cheap eBay rear fender guard I adapted to the front. https://www.ebay.com/itm/353439001354?hash=item524a9b2b0a:g:kMsAAOSwKyNgZT9r

I posted it a few weeks ago (V85TT inner fender) but basically make 4-100 degree brackets for under the caliper bolts and install the guard upside down.

After looking at and taking a short ride I decided to swap the right side 46L for another 33L to match the left. The different sizes just doesn't look right to me and I really don't need the extra space. Price difference covers the return shipping and then some (thank you Amazon Prime).
