They do fine in Missouri as well- as long as the tree comes in the house for winter! We have figs all summer. I'm not big fan, but the rest of the family likes them.
Not to be a complete downer but I prefer black mission figs over brown turkey figs. We had a BT fig in the yard for about 15 years, it finally died about a year ago and in it's prime that tree produced a substantial amount of figs, but IMO they do not taste as good as a Mission fig. Between the olive trees, blood orange trees, lemon and lime trees in the yard I need to order another fig tree. The birds and squirrels love those figs but there always seems to be enough for our household.
I love all the figs. When I move to PHX soon I'm riding up to steal some!
