Good morning. Well, it's beena long road with the V50. I'm hoping you people can help me reach the goal line. I'll list all of the stuff i've done below, but here are the symptoms:
-bike will not hold idle. Drops revs and dies immediately
-right side pops
-left side gets really hot (header smokes)
-neither idle(gas) or air screw adjustment have any impact on running
OK- so here's where I've been:
-New dyna S ignition module (one of the sensors was bad)
-carbs removed and rebuilt several times- they are clean as a whistle. I just replaced the idle jets back to factory stock
-chokes both replaced. I checked and they both have proper slack
-throttle cables checks and tuned so both slides rise in sync
-idle and air screws set to factory stock
-remote fuel line and reservoir used (so not clogged petcocks)
-valve clearances checked
-advance checked by actually rotating engine over to TDC then backing off to see that ignition module switches "on" as piston is rising [BTW, the timing marks on the flywheel do NOT seem to coincide with the actual, verified TDC as determined watching valves and using a measuring stick...I just don't understand it]
At this point I'm wondering if I got the timing completely wrong...but the engine just would not fire up.
I can pull the carbs and check the idle circuit for possible spooge(the bike had been sitting...but there was no smell of bad gas or varnish in the carbs)
Any thoughts?
THANK YOU
