The Stelvio sleeps tonight in Quemado, NM
« on: August 15, 2019, 10:43:24 PM »
Finally rode the bike 300 miles to New Mexico for the Datil rally after its break in service. The Largo Motel is decent - updated rooms and good food. This bike is excellent. The motor is smoothing out with plenty of power and loves to rev. Excellent suspension, brakes, transmission. 54 mpg. 5000 rpm at 90 and rock solid. A keeper.

My 2012 Stelvio is also extremely smooth when it revs up ... almost like a small turbine when quickly pulling away from a stop.    :thumb:

I met a new Stelvio owner yesterday on the ferry from Port Townsend, said he was from Northern California, I told him to check out the board.

54 mpg?!!?  My Griso has never done better than 33mpg.

Are you going off the odo display or real fill up calculations?

And curious, because I would really love it if my Griso could get up into the 40's even.

Sounds like he was at high elevations which enhances the fuel mileage --

The riding has been at 5500 to 7500 feet. Just did 270 miles and filled to the brim with 5.5 gallons = 49 mpg for this segment. The computer shows 505 miles at 53.4 mpg for the trip so it’s probably a little optimistic but not by much. Very pleased so far.
