This is maybe my first or second NGC post ever. But, I know there are a lot of fellow "doggers" on here that may enjoy the photos.
Losing too many chickens and I've wanted another Rottie since my last one died 10 years ago. Gonna train this one to be our "chicken guard" so we can keep feeding you all eggs at the SWMO campouts.
She's a little teddy bear.(http://www.xtupload.com/new/image-7092_4BF1A67C.jpg) (http://www.xtupload.com/new/share-7092_4BF1A67C.html)(http://www.xtupload.com/new/image-6B3B_4BF1A67C.jpg) (http://www.xtupload.com/new/share-6B3B_4BF1A67C.html)(http://www.xtupload.com/new/image-8C7B_4BF1A67C.jpg) (http://www.xtupload.com/new/share-8C7B_4BF1A67C.html)(http://www.xtupload.com/new/image-64FA_4BF1A67C.jpg) (http://www.xtupload.com/new/share-64FA_4BF1A67C.html)

Never saw a cuter pup ... congratulations!

Dogs are always cool. This kind of NGC welcomed.

Cute pup there Luap. That one looks like it will keep you on your toes.
We are waiting now on a couple of Lab pups. Cindy likes to have a dog around the house while I'm away.

Awwwww, how cute. Congratulations!

Really good looking pup! Please take good care of him / her as they are members of the family and like children! :)
-
Awwwwww -- what a cutie !!
Best of all, I see you're already teaching her what good snacks human hands are. Might make some problems with the neighbors, later on, but the extra protein sure helps the budget . . . :o

Made me smile. Look at the paws.....she's gonna be big.

There may be a sidecar in your future. Lovely pup. Woof Woof. ;D

Patience my man. The "honeymoon" is scheduled for early July with pups arriving in early September, give or take a week or two.
Luap, stock up on dog food now so it won't be so painful when the 50 lb. bags start disappearing on a weekly basis. BTW, Sam's has good prices on huge bags of dog chow ;)
-
We got a German Shepherd puppy around Christmas. I'd forgotten how much "work" a puppy is!
But they're fun, too. Take a lot of pics--they grow up fast.

I've sent Dean some pics of the Uber-fine dog I got from Muley. Only 1 year old, doncha know...
Just to say-- a Muley dog outdoes any other dog. Hands down, without a doubt.
Thanks again, Russ. ;-T
-
Sweet looking puppy! She'll be a stellar chicken guard some day!
I second the motion on puppies being a ton of work raising them, but they're worth it! Ours is 6-1/2 months now, he's about 70% Big Intelligent Dog and 30% Stupid Little Puppy. 100% lovable!

Well,
If I were a Chicken.....I'm not sure I'd feel any safer... ::)

Cool puppy I am sure Emma will be happy with you guys. ;-T

-
I've never said this before. Really.
Has she got a sister??
Yep. the fella had one left. another girl. If you want his number, let me know.
-
Emma's 1st birthday is tomorrow. She is a fantastic dog and keeps an eye on us and the chickens very well. She even trees squirrels now too ;D. She's very gentle and a ton (literally) of fun. She is one of the kids for sure.
Here she is last weekend on the lake. She loves the water and gets so excited when I hook something.

Some of you may meet her this year. We're looking into a trailer to bring her along.

She is getting big Luap...Sidecar for sure....She will like that better than a trailer I bet. I think my two schnauzers are probably afraid of chickens...LOL.

My best dog ever to date, Bonnie, a pure breed Rotty died 12 years ago. She was one staunch dog.
Weve just replaced her with a chocolete Lab, Cocoa. Only 12 weeks old and a real fast learner.
-
that one won't be small enough to sit on the stelvio for long! ;D
She'll grow into that Stelvio soon enough. You may be able to give her old tires to chew on. Seriously! Keep her well exercised (run her butt off once or twice a day) and make sure she has something to chew on that amuses her. Let her know who it the boss and don't let your better half spoil her. Rottweilers are working dogs. Make sure both of them know it.

plus one for dogs...great looking Rottie

Update:
Here's Emma's pup and adult photos. She will soon be 2. Man, time flies. Emma is the chicken/family guard dog and companion that we thought she would be. She is now a big Teddy Bear though. She knows no strangers. Just today, I had her in the vet for a checkup and all the other dogs were barking at her (probably scared), but she just wagged her nub and behaved. All the other owners complimented me on how docile she is. I advised them that she's a different animal when it's dark outside and all her family is in the house. Nice feeling when others envy your dog and their behavior over their yapping canines.
Sorry for the rant. I really love my dog.
2 months old - 12 lbs and a clean bill of health.

Reminds me of the rotties my brother had... best dogs I have known... loved to play, well behaved, not a mean bone in their body (except if they ate a burglar or something) :)
I miss those doggies... waiting for him to get a new one.
I guess you have to be the right owner for the breed... I also knew one that was a vicious prick... but I also know the owners did not treat the dog well...
Anyway, Im glad someone other than my bro can raise a well behaved rottie... :P

It's the owner that makes a good dog bad, same as children.

This almost seems impossible for me to write. We discovered about 3 months ago that Emma has lymphoma. She's not even 5 years old. Our whole house is a wreck this week. I will probably have to have her put down tomorrow or Wednesday. She can barely breath and is just laying around and wont eat/drink. I've owned lots of pets in my life, but she has been the best. Looking back at this thread has been rough. Thanks for reading/listening.
-
Very sorry to hear that Luap.
-
So sorry, Luap.
Kathi is even more attached to dogs and their place in a home, and will start crying if I ask her to read this thread. I will anyway, because it helps when others help with that sort of pain.

Dear Friend, It would be glib of me to write ‘sorry, I know how you feel”.
I don’t. I can’t. I do empathize. Saying farewell to an entity that has ingrained their feelings and emotions with yours is so very painful. Nothing and no one can salve that hurt. I breed Bernese Mountain Dogs; a breed of notoriously short life span. I’ve felt the death of loved ones far too often. Every once in a while you meet puppy destined to be your heart dog. The one who centers on your every breath, the one who reads your ups and downs like a topographic map. Centavo was my first heart dog. I lay in the dirt cradling him until we could get him to our vet. He’d eaten something that caused a hemorrhage. He died in my arms just 2 years old. Blessed are those who have shared the love of a dog. I truly understand your pain. Condolences.
Don.

Dang, Luap. I hate reading this. Its amazing how a "dumb animal" can become a loyal friend and family member. I don't remember who said it, but a good dog is better people than most people. I'm truly sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry to read this Luap. I had to put my beloved Magic down on 21 June 2014. The Christmas ornament to remember her by arrived today. I still grieve and feel her absence. While they may leave your presence, they never leave your heart. I feel your pain Luap, yes I do. I am so sorry to hear about this. :'(

A perfect sentiment.
Luap, we're very sorry to hear about Emma. Having put our Kayla down the Saturday before Christmas, after a year of her fighting cancer was a very sad but sympathetic to do. Our kids grew up with her. We were all present and petting her as she just put her head down and went to sleep for the last time. I believe that she knew it was time and was ready.
Sincere condolences to you and yours.

So sorry to hear of this, even though they are pets they become members of the family. I know it will hard to do but you need to get another one.

Laup,
So sorry to read this, and sorry for your loss. We had to have our six year old lab put down 13 years ago, and to this day, it is one of the hardest things I ever had to do.
A dog's love is unconditional. When you have a dog at home, there is always someone happy to see you when you get home.

Le mie condonglianze Luap. Not easy losing a best friend and companion. The love we develop for our dogs is not less than our human family.
-
Thank guys for the kind words. She's still with us. She's having a great day today and is acting pretty well. We might get to spend a little more time with her afterall. I do appreciate the words and the like-heartedness of fellow pet lovers.
-
Here's hpoing you have some more good time with her. Our dogs are family and I dread when that day comes.
-
Luap,
I literally got a pain in my stomach after reading about Emma's lymphoma. Cherish the days with her friend. We had to put down "The Amazing Mini" (brown/rust Min Pin) after only 3 years because she was born with a liver issue. That was nearly 10 years ago. We still regularly remember her and tear up when we do.
Will there be dogs in heaven, and will you see them again? IMHO, absolutely YES! Any of God's beautiful and innocent creations will have a place their.
-
Losing a dog that is so close to the family is never easy. Pictures and memories will be wonderful tho.
-
Sorry to hear that Luap I feel for you. I just lost my yellow lab to the same thing.
-
I've been there too Luap. Full of empathy and condolences.
-
Luap, really sorry for you. 5 years is not enough. When this sweet puppy arrives, we know that we'll have to say goodbye too soon and most probably have to decide exactly when. But every time it is hard. I had to make that decision for my 11 year old rottie, Dina this summer. I still dream about her most nights.

Emma wasn't your whole life. But you were her's.
My dogs will join me in NC in February. When my wife brings the rest of the house up.
-
I hope I jinxed Emmas illness for a little while by writing about her. Monday night was gloomy for her. I called all my kids to tell them they'd better come say bye to her as I feared I'd have to put her down on Tuesday. I kid you not, not 30 minutes into the kids coming home to visit her at 9:30PM, she began to take a turn...for the BEST. She started perking back up, eating, drinking, running, playing and acting like nothing in the world was wrong. I know she's still sick, but she doesn't and is acting like a puppy again. As long as no one tells her, she just might make it to her 5th birthday in May. I figured you'd all want to know. We are happy campers right now.
-
It seems more visits from the kids are required medicine.

Update on Emma. This morning at 11:50, Emma passed away. I saw her laying in the yard so I ran to her. Hunter came out as well and helped me wrap her in my robe to keep warm. We talked with her for thirty minutes while we waited for dad to get home. She howled back when we said I love you and daddy's coming. She held on for him and passed soon after he arrived. Emma was such a wonderful Girl who showed during her last breath that she will wait forever for her family. We will cherish every memory and miss her always. Rest in peace, sweet Emma Louise.

So sorry for your loss.
The Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Condolences - your warm memories will fend off the chill of loss.

Luap, so sorry to hear about Emma's passing. It's the first I've mentioned it, but I put my dog of over 13 yrs old down this past September and though she was sick, it still was tough. They are amazing creatures that don't live nearly long enough. I'm sorry Emma went so soon is all. Like my dog Deuce, Emma will always be engraved in your memory.
Best wishes
Kevin
