Title: Workshop Manual to go
Post by: Kiwi_Roy on June 14, 2018, 11:31:27 AM
I am going on a two week trip, I thought it might be handy to have the manual loaded on my I-phone.
Can I just drag it from the desktop to the phone or is there a better way?
Note: I will not have cell coverage on the trip.

I have various manuals in PDF format that I either downloaded directly to my phone (Droid) or copied them in via a corded data connection with my laptop. I store them for use with an ereader that I also use for books. Not sure exactly how you'd do it on an apple, but I suspect there are multiple ways around the square.

I make PDF files of whatever I need, then I email them to myself to open on the iPhone, or directly open the PDF files online if uploaded somewhere, then once the PDF is open, you can go to the send function (lower left) and they'll be an option to "Copy to iBooks", then the PDF will be in the iBooks App (orange icon) at any time, on or offline. If you have a bunch, I'd suggest you name them short as they will be in alphabetical order, and will only display about 20 characters and each will have a tiny icon of the first page of the PDF.

Wiring diagrams are pretty hard to read on the phone, Roy. A tablet works better for older eyes, but it's not so easy to make notes on them (not impossible, just not easy). You'll probably take along a Mark II version - the colour-coordinated one on glossy paper & laminated.

make the manual into a PDF> email it to yourself> open email on iphone and download attachment> open then use the send icon to save to files when prompted.. it then will save in a folder called files.
