Just buy a map from Beetle or ask John, who posts as Xltra if you can use his. Either that or roll your own map with Tunerpro. PC's are an outdated and very flawed product unnecessary in this day and age.
Alright- looking at fueling mods- I’ve seen Todd at GTMoto offers a reflash/Power Commander/Autotune kit, but it’s pricey.
Thanks for all the input so far, seems there fans of either. My bike came with modded air box lid, and supposedly was tuned for it, not impressed. Swapped on a stock lid, not impressed either.
From reading so many posts here that's really obvious to me but so many owners are shy ,even phobic of mapping AND just want a quick magic fix ...mor fool them
Big difference is that Pete is a smart , thorough guy and has witnessed some of the problems caused by over-fuelling ! I bet most of the pros who install the power commanders haven't come across those issues which is why they stand by them. He's also seems so experienced in the process and marque that he can do it quickly now...I'm sure that with maybe one exception , most of the technicians around here would avoid mapping and go for the quick bolt on " solution ". That's neither criticism nor adulation on my part ...just that there are very very few Guzzi specialists around now for obvious reasons.
I'm not saying that re mapping is that hard but most of us , myself included , have not got a clue as to the whole guzzi diag set up works. It takes time and patience to learn this.I'm sure I'd get there eventually (and would enjoy the "challange " too ) and that most younger more computer literate folk would find it easier...However , to put in one of those en-richening devices would be a lot simpler to me and most of those guys...so that's one reason why they are popular...they are plug and play and just need a simple rewire.
We might be losing something in translation , a beetlemap isn't difficult to install , Mark makes it simple and works with his customers , it doesn't take a specialist to install his maps . In the end it is simpler than dealing with the problems caused by overfueling from employing other *fixes* . Dusty
I know all that ! Like I said i'll get on the bus very willingly when i need to....so why do so many owners still buy the en-richening widgets????From reading the forums it seems much more popular then remapping ...and I don't get it.I've suggested my theory as to why ....
No Dusty...I've not been there for ages for various reasons...I'm talking several facebook groups, several French Guzzi Forums and the Uk ones...nearly everyone there seems to be fitting widgets rather than remapping ...you'd think re mapping was some kind of dark, hidden voodoo best done in a disused church yard and never mentioned in public ! I realised the ins and outs of both methods thanks to the info gleamed here from ages ago...I just find it odd that there is less knowledge elsewhere. And it's great to hear from yet another person how efficiant the re maps are Dave !
