This has nothing to do with motorbikes at all, but as some of you have had kind words to say about my snooty Pommy voice, and many of you are no doubt twiddling your thumbs trying to avoid nasty little bugs, I offer here a few minutes of light relief. heck, I'm not even trying to sell you something.
Following on from making audiobook versions of my little m/c books, I've now turned to history - specifically 18th century journals of travel and adventure. The following short passage is from John Long's
"Voyages and Travels of an Indian Interpreter and Trader" 1791.
First though, a bit of context. In 1763, during Pontiac's uprising, a large group of First Nations warriors used the clever ruse of a game of baaga’adowe (a predecessor of LaCrosse) to initiate a devastating attack on Fort Michilimackinac, during which most of the garrison and English traders were killed. Not surprisingly, once the garrison was re-staffed, new rules were put in place which restricted access to the fort - especially for First Nations people.
