Zard lemans 850
« on: July 02, 2020, 06:43:53 PM »
well, i just got my Zard exhaust this afternoon.  have to say im not too pleased so far.  arrived scratched to bare metal in a few places and the fitment is slightly off almost everywhere.  I ordered directly from them and have sent an email.  the rear of the lower frame rails have already dented the inside of the mufflers once it was tightened up. the crossover also won't seat fully. shifter may hit the muffler too on downshifting and the side stand hits the headers.  black finish also scratches really easily.  already scratched up in numerous places and thats with being super duper careful, I guess not careful enough though.  lets see what they say

Sorry to hear about the problems with the Zard system.  I can relate.  I bought the brushed stainless system the slip on spigots had to be replaced because they wouldn’t seat.  I had to lose the side stand for the same reason your experiencing. I had to adjust the shifter and the brake up and bend the lever out to clear the oversized tubing.  Other than all that the system works great.  :violent1:

Sorry to hear about the bad Zard experience, but thanks for posting this as a warning to others.

MG Cycle had the LaFranconi black Lemans mufflers in stock a couple weeks ago, but they sold out fast.

That sucks, and the whole system isn't exactly cheap.

well, I got it installed. had to do some bending and negotiating but got it on. looks good, sounds good. the crossover is about 3/16" from fully seated, that's snug as I can get it.  still have scratches and little dents on the inside though from tightening everything up, nothin can be done about that. maybe next season ill have it recoated if I feel so inclined.  waiting to hear back from them regarding the gouges that they arrived with. also I had a shipping issue on their part and they said id have a special gift in the box, well if the special gift was foam packing then...

I realized that. I sent them the photos of the damage right away but there was no way I wasn’t going to install the exhaust. It’s what I wanted, I knew I could make it work, hell, my job is to make things work that we’re never meant to work. The dents can’t be seen and are small and the finish can be redone if I need it to be. Still shitty to open a box and see damaged parts that you paid a lot for and waited a long time. Not like sending it back to Italy was an option either

Guzzis, new, are  unfinished projects needing sorting. Why should parts be any different?
