NGC Suggestions welcome
« on: May 20, 2021, 06:34:49 PM »
As I wait perhaps another 4 weeks for my ignition switch to arrive for my V9 Bobber, I'm considering buying another motorcycle.
Which will be my first time owning two motorcycles.

Two things I would like are ABS and TC.

So, should I get a more sporty bike like a Ducati Monster? Or an adventure bike like a Wee-Strom?

Most of my riding is commuting 10-15 miles each way. Some of my riding will be multi-day trips.

My bike history: I've owned a bunch of Triumphs (Speed Four, Speed Triple, Bonneville), two BMW X-Countrys (the first one I lost in an accident), some odd Hondas (CB-1, GB500) and one dalliance with a GSX-R.

Suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Just go window shopping first then look some more.  It'll hit you.   :thumb:  Good Luck!

Are you itching to go faster on good pavement - or to go exploring on dirt roads? Answer that and you'll know which category you want.

If you want ADV, take a look at the Husqvarna 701 Long Range, or the Yamaha Tenere 700. I have the 701 Enduro with 2 sets of wheels - one with the street-oriented TKC80 tires, and the other with aggressive dirt knobbies. With the street tires, it is a shockingly sporty ride on tight and twisty pavement.

I've owned more bike than I can count but nothing was as thrilling as the Ducati. Everyone should own at least one sometime. Having said that a Suzuki would be more practical and less $..

The 650 Strom is a very tempting bike for me. Read the reviews!

KTM 350 EXC or EXC-F will give the you a thrill like the Ducati.  I've had both (well, an MTS1200 and an EXC-F).  The KTM is a HOOT to drive on or off road and it is nothing like the Guzzi.  Why have two pairs of high heels?  Get a pair of running shoes and a pair of dancing shoes.

For this type of riding, the Suzuki V-Strom would be my choice hands down... :thumb: :boozing:

I'm actually thinking about the KTM Adventure 390. I like the thought of a lighter ADV bike. The Wee feels "big" to me and I'm 5'11 190.
