Very sad day for my family
« on: June 07, 2021, 03:54:48 PM »

I just wanted to share this with my WG family because over the years I have shared my fur baby, Daisy, with our friends here.
She went into kidney failure back in January this year and the vet told us she had a couple months to maybe a year, she was 14 at the time and we had her from 4 weeks old. She was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney failure at 70% shut down.
Lisa started hand cooking all her food, eliminating some ingredients that would hamper her kidney functions. She seemed to be doing fine until Saturday morning when we noticed a weakness in her rear legs. By Sunday morning she had little to no function in the rear and by last night she could not even sit up on her own.
We made an appointment for 11:00 am this morning for our vet. They agreed to do the procedure in the back seat of Daisy’s ram pickup where Lisa held her the entire time.
I have lost a child and  I must say this comparison is scary similarity, we hurt right now😞
I hope this will encourage all of you folks who have fur babies to cherish every minute you can spend holding and loving on them and maybe give them an extra hug for Daisy May Proctor ❤️
They say what don’t kill you makes you stronger but I’m not sure that is true today because it feels like this much pain could kill someone.

Sorry for your loss. I have cats, not dogs, and the only way I make myself feel better is to remember that they had better lives with me than with anyone else.

Hope it gets better for you!

Damn I hate that stuff but the price that goes with sharing one's life with pets. Still worth it.

I told you this earlier, But you know Daisy would thank you for all the love you two gave her. I still think about our Maimie, and she's been gone 4 months? I miss the way she always checked to see if we shut the laundry room door all the way so she could sniff my socks. She would always guard the doggy door and give Max the what-for when he came in : ) There was not a varmint safe in our yard while Maimie was in charge, even treed a groundhog dang near as big as she was! It'll get better with time Dan. Dogs are great!

~HUGS~ I'm so sorry for you and your family. Furbabies are our children/family/friends. We lost our's to the same issue a few years back and it was heartbreaking for us all.

This thought helped us get through the pain a bit.
Place your hand on your heart. Feel it beat? That is Daisy's tail wagging to let you know how much she loves and appreciates her human family. <3

Ncdan, very sorry for your loss, I understand how you feel.
I have been involved in rescues, shelters, animal control, and transports about 50 years.
Always adopting those that no one else would give a home to, never regretted it.
I've lost two best friend last year, and the year before. Both about 15.
My Boxer never left my side more than a few feet, my Shepherd mix was as smart as can be.
Found two lost people and many dogs and cats.
Rarely needed to tell them anything, like they could read my mind.
Sorry to run on, the dog lover in me.

It can be so udderly sad when our fur babies leave us. She had to go Dan because she wouldn't want to live without the love you and Lisa gave her. Many know exactly what you're going through and are sending prayers because of it. Love you Dan, this too shall pass. But Daisy won't be forgotten because a pet can be like a gift from God for those who understand.

Very sad to hear the news, Danny.  Our animals mean the world to us, too.  We made a similar trip to the vet just over a week ago.  Not cool.

You and Lisa will be in my prayers tonight.

Karen and I lost our female Scottish Terrier "Chloe" on 6/14/12, due to something she ate, just 2 weeks past her 5th birthday.  She was a compulsive eater (2 "Heimlichs" performed by me when she overdid on twigs and rough forage) and I cried for the first time since adolescence.  Ditto Karen.  Her inseparable companion, Riley (also a Scottish Terrier--we would have no other breed) was confused and distraught.  How to explain it to him?

We were in no shape to add a replacement for Chloe so we donated Riley to Northern California Scottie Rescue, who found him a really good home with multiple Scotties after 4 months of searching.    Karen and I still have not recovered.  People who say, "Oh, just get another dog" just don't "get it".

Heartfelt condolences, McDan.

Lisa and I would like to thank everyone for the kind words of encouragement. I sent PM messages to as many as I could last night for a more personal thank you and if I miss anyone it’s not purposely.
It was a very dark feeling of anxiety for us last night but Lisa and I stayed near each other and hope it will be a brighter day today.
I realize that such an emotional reaction to loosing a dog may seem strange and hard to comprehend to people who have never put their total capacity to love in an animal but when one does invest that type of agape love, the lose of that family member is devastating.
Again, thanks to everyone who sent their condolences and Lisa and I read each and every one snd could feel the heart sent words.

Thanks so much
Danny and Lisa

Completely understandable Dan.

The important thing is that you and your wife made that emotional investment, and the lives of everyone (human and canine) involved were better as a result!!!!!

IMO, one of those situations where the time spent together is it's own reward.

Best company on Earth is a dog!
