« on: December 22, 2015, 03:33:43 PM »
My ebay wixom saddlebag find for my eldo project arrived today with the oblong rear turn signal lens shattered. Any one have a replacement (or two) for sale or know of a source?
Thanks

Easy to find, if you're not worried about original Dietz. Peterson, Truck-Lite, etc. all have modern versions of the original lights and the lens is available separately.

Also available in LED: http://www.pmlights.com/products.cfm?cId=1&fId=54&pId=2728

I have original NOS Dietz lenses. I can have them delivered to your door for $20. Your choice of red or amber lenses. PM me if interested.

Dietz spotlights, Duo-Visual turn signals and single lens rear turn signals too, for anyone building a Police-style Guzzi.

With my history of hearing "hundred bucks" as the minimum quote for any single item in my eldo resto, I send you my heart felt thanks, Charlie, for the tip on the reproduction Dietz lens.  2.49$ at the "Canadian Tire" parts store and it really felt like Christmas. Bought all four they had.
Leroy. I was about to take you up on your kind offer but right now I just want to sit back in my rocker and snap my red suspenders.
Thanks everyone and many more GUZZI MOMENTS to all.

And every time you look at those cool bags you'll know you cheaped out and bought the lenses from a truck stop.  They coulda been Dietz NOS, just sayin'...

Harry,

You'll probably be happy with the lights Charlie recommended unless you're doing a nut-and-bolt, rivet-counter caliber restoration. And, if you bought the LED versions, they will give you better light output with less power. Be mindful, however, that neither of the Peterson lights shown in the links have lenses that are interchangable with the snap-on lens/metal base on your original Diets lights. In addition, they have a rather different look with a flatter lens surface and a more squared-off transition of the reflective surface to the shoulder. Still, the function is there and the LEDs are hard to beat for efficiency.

If you want a modern light that's a closer physical replica of Dietz, check out another Peterson light (and there are other equivalents). I believe that these lenses will fit the Dietz metal base:

Finally, you can always change your mind. Your current spending leaves room for an upgrade to originality at a pretty modest cost.

All the best.

Sorry, I linked to the wrong light, didn't look closely enough. If what Harry bought fits the Deitz base, all is good though.
Charlie
