A lot of this is true out here but with different names.
« on: June 07, 2016, 04:51:31 PM »
Okay.  We're so far south that it's almost across the equator but a lot of this is true for Hawaii.

From the Deep Deep South out in left field.  There are no stupid questions.  There are however stupid people asking questions.  🤣, this includes me.  😉

21. Portuguese sausage and SPAM are to be found in any cook's arsenal (Hawaii only, not the South).

22. "The laulau is the kaukau at the luau" - the South may have pig roasts, but not like Hawaii! (Note - see other thread concerning big wild pigs in the Pacific and elsewhere).

I hate stereotypes . Not only do I not eat grits , wear cowboy boots , or attend college football games (who can afford tickets?) , I only say ya'll to freak people out . Guessing the guy who wrote this is from Michigan .

Oh , and the only party in a barn I've ever been to was in Ohio , all of the fireflies are gone , and no Merle Haggard wasn't from Oklahoma , never lived here , didn't have a clue . There , chew on that .

I'm with this. Born and raised in Texas. Hate grits, college football, that crap they call country music these days. Never worn boots, hats or anything close to "cowboy". Can ride a horse all day without gitting sore and voting for Bernie Sanders. Biscuits and gravy will clog your vines and Baptists are just plain scary. How's that for breaking your southern stereotype?

And the couple wearing  "camo"?

They are both wearing Arizona Cardinals clothes and hats. And Arizona IS West of Texas . They are probably watching the Cardinals beating Dallas😁😁

Human nature to use stereo-types.  I like grits but with butter, salt & pepper and Tobasco or jalapeno peppers.

Grits, like avocado, turnips and parsnips, are food for food - and excellent sources of bacon (after processing by the hog, of course)!

Yeah , all Ozzies eat bloomin' onions and cook shrimp on the barbie at least 3 times a week  Seriously , like the belief that every Okie has been pummeled by a tornado , or that all Texans wear cowboy boots and hats , and own a herd of cattle , most stereotypes are not very accurate . Jeff Foxworthy grew up in a very upscale neighborhood , his dad was an exec with IBM .
Doubt if he ever had any contact with country people in Georgia . AND , not to be repetitive , Merle Haggard was from California , Mickey Mantle , Johnny Bench , and Gordon Cooper are Okies . So is
Dr Phil , but Will Rogers and Woody Guthrie offset that fact

Oh , and Miami Steve Gaines , of Lynard Skynard fame , wasn't from Florida , but Miami Oklahoma.
