Yup. They're in the forward part of the mufflers.

So what happens if a moron rides for an hour in a frog drowning rain storm next to the sea with his NGK spark plug boots filled with water?

Does the muffler chrome come back?

Baking soda?  Tooth paste?

Eliminate the negative;
Latch on to the affirmative;

 I don't am not friends with any morons , just with a guy who was trying to get somewhere in a frog strangler . Is the chrome actually burned away , or just severely discolored ?

Ride the same route in opposite direction. Headers will be matched. Seriously hope you get it sorted.

Toothpaste is abrasive and may dull the chrome.  Suggest trying several chrome polishes in inconspicuous places.
If none of them are successful, you can $pend money or (GC) call it patina and come up with a really good story.

If it was misfiring for any length of time not only will the exterior finish be history but the catalyser will be dead too. This is the reason it's a good idea to replace the crappy OE caps pre-emptively.

 Pete , I believe the owner had already replaced the caps with the NGK's . Yes , the Cat is shot .
