NGC - Moto Morini's 80th anniversary - article
« on: March 13, 2017, 10:57:35 AM »
A friend sent me a link to this very interesting article:
http://tinyurl.com/MotoMorini80thanniversary

This is the part most people don't realize:

"The apex of Moto Morini technology is represented by the fastest 250 single ever, the 250 Bialbero (twin cam), designed by the same Alfonso Morini assisted by Dante Lambertini and Nerio Biavati, an incredible trio of geniuses that not only created a 38Hp 250cc single, but also harnessed it in a very competent chassis. This is the bike that in the hands of the legendary Tarquinio Provini came within two points of defeating Jim Redman's Honda-4 in the 1963 GP championship."

IIRC, Provini was ill and didn't contest the Spanish round. If he had raced and even finished, Morini would have beat "almighty Honda" for the '63 championship.

Thanks for the post.  Back in the middle '70's I lusted for a Morini but could only afford a Honda.

I wonder if they'll really start building the Corsaro 1200 zz.  Then again if it's at a Motus price well ... to rich for me.

I'll just have to stay in the hunt for a 350 or 500 on the West Coast.
