Some of the outright disdain presented by a few Guzzi enthusiasts on the forum for claims of the 1400 making 130, 135 or even 140 HP is surprising. Can a 1400 Guzzi motor be made to make that kind of power? Sure it can. But those are peak number claims and a dyno operator can certainly alter a reading by making a few adjustments.

Changing cams, intake, exhaust, throttle body size/carb modifications, combustion chamber alterations, timing, piston design etc can make huge gains from the original DOT certified engine output. Personally, I'd be surprised if the Guzzi 1400 couldn't be made to make 130 to 140 peak horsepower. But the story is better told when the dyno graph is presented so the reader can see where in the rpm range the bike is really making that kind of power. Personally, peak numbers are often used for bragging. A high, flat torque curve throughout the usable rpm range is what gets me excited.

Reading the original link informs the reader the frame was redone as well as the swingarm to handle the extra power. The frame apparently kept much of the original geometry. Perhaps making the alterations easier to get past local laws???

Anyway, Merry Christmas everyone!

Interesting bike on eBay, no affiliation. A similar bike discussed on this forum in 2017 here: https://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=91850.0

The ebay listing says this thing is called 'The Fugitiive'. Fugitive from reality?

Hasn’t this bike been around before?  It’s only an hour from me ...

Yes, it has been skewered discussed here before. I referred to it as the Fugitive From Reality.

Strange that someone would pay a shop tons of money for all of this custom work, and then not keep the bike.  I wonder what the back story is.

I know nothing additional about this bike than what's posted in the eBay ad. But wow, it's beautiful and the attention to detail on some of the machined parts is very nice. But yea, it seems they've been trying to sell this bike for quite some time now. Apparently actual performance seeking buyers that choose a Guzzi powered bike are extremely rare and difficult to find. Not so difficult to find mockers, but finding an actual buyer is certainly proving a tall order. Since it's real world worth is what the market will bear, the seller's patience may continued to be tested.

Looks like bidding last time went to $14.5k with no sale.  At that price level, it’s hard to see the value.  But what do I know?  I don’t own any $14.5k bikes.
